Guest guest
Jill, Where in NJ did you get the DOC band? We are just starting out with the whole proccess and was wondering where we will be being sent since we are in Ocean County, NJ. The only one that I heard of was in Paramus. Am I correct with this information or is there somewhere else that we would/could be sent to. I'm confused about the whole proccess, does the Neuro send you to a clinic for the DOC band and who monitors your child after they are in thier band/helmet? How will we know what to choose? Sorry for all the questions but we are just starting out and who knows exactly what the Neuro is going to want to do once we see him on the 17th. Thanks for any replys. Guest guest
, Where abouts in NY are they? When I was on my quest for cranial molding devices the only choice was the DOC in New Jersey. I have never heard of that band before. Guest guest
Kathy, Wow, that is quite a trip. Like I said, I'm not sure of anything at this point except that most definately needs treatment. I'm feeling really anxious waiting for the appointment...and my daughter is trying not to show it, but she is scared and worried. My heart aches for her and I must admit, I feel a bit guilty because she counts on me to tell her things as this is her first baby. I really trusted the doctors when they told us that it would just round out on its own. Even the neonatal doctor that had from day one in the NICU told us at his very last APNEA visit that it was nothing to worry about, it would be fine. I just don't get it. Other than the Plagio, has overcome a whole lot being born at 28 weeks. He's my heart! I'm going to be putting some pictures of him in the files soon. Sorry to ramble....but you know how us Grandmothers are! Cheryl.......'s Mom-Mom Ps. Hope all is well with
Guest guest
Cheryl: does the Neuro send you to a clinic for the DOC band and who monitors your child after they are in thier band/helmet? Usually, the neuro (or other) will prescribe treatment and refer you to a clinic. Then you go to the clinic, where they take the cast of the head and do all adjustments on the band/helmet. Your neuro (or other!) will want to see you either periodically throughout treatment, or as ours did, just at the end of treatment, or when baby outgrows the helmet/band- to either discharge you from treatment, or to prescribe a second band. How will we know what to choose? You will have to explore all of your options, ask each provider a list of questions (see www.plagiocephaly.org/support/questions_for_the_doctor.htm for some ideas), then decide what is best for your baby, and your situation. Sometimes travel is a factor, sometimes money, or sometimes it depends on whether or not insurance will cover one over the other. Guest guest
Cheryl, We travel every two weeks from Northen VA to Paramus to get 's DOC Band adjusted. I know that the trip from OC may seem long, but boy would I trade with you. We see the plastic and neuro doctors about every 6 weeks, but did have surgery for cranio so we are in a different situation. I guess it would depend on who referred you. As someone else said, the folks there are great. at the desk is very helpful and supportive. Kathy mom to l lamdoid cranio CVR 1/18/01 DOC Band 2/26/01 > Jill, > Where in NJ did you get the DOC band? Plus we can have the fittings done at a hospital close by without going to LI (I live in NJ).
