Guest guest
-welcome and hooray for early treatment. Check the files for insurance coverage wins and appeals, there is a lot of good stuff there. ..... Also educate your DR on the cosmetic Vs medical necessity issue. There are many possible side effects if this goes untreated. Click here: Parent Support there is a file for insurance issues and you can check the archived messages and do a search for your insurance as well. I have a son who will be 4 months next week-he just got his DOC band 2 weeks ago. Good luck and welcome again-you will find a lot of help and resources here. Guest guest
hi , my name is Elena and my son DJ started wearing his helmet 2 weeks ago. We do have Cigna PPO but when I called and ask if the helmet will be covered they say no, i only spoke to one woman there that was not helpful at all, she did not give me a reason for WHY? it is not covered and i decided that it was a waste of my time to talk to her so I paid upfront for the helmet and the orthotic place filed the paperwork with the insurance along with a letter of medical necessity from the neurosurgeon, I also think that you should really question the doctor that says it is a cosmetic reason just because the baby is not having any problems now that does not mean that everything will be OK later on, my baby has the same problem as yours and his doctor did not tell me it was a cosmetic issue but also talk to me about the possible future complications if leaving it untreated. I am waiting to see if Cigna will pay anything and if it doesn't I will appeal. I have read that is better ! to get approval first but I did not wanted to wait any longer to get my baby started, he's been doing great. Good luck to you. Guest guest
, Hello and welcome - I am glad that you found us! It sounds like you already have the ball rolling in getting treatment for your daughter and that is great!!! Will you be getting a helmet or a band? Sorry I can't help you with the Cigna. We had an HMO and we are STILL fighting to get them to pay and my daughter finished treatment last week!!! We do have members in the group that have Cigna and I'm sure they will respond. I hope you will stick with us and keep us updated on your daughters progress. I think you will find this group to be an awesome source of support, answers and encouragement! Welcome...
