Alternative Doctor - Mitochondrial Regeneration for Antibiotics???

When I was in Jamaica, there was an alternative M.D. staying at the

same place I was staying. I had a HORRIBLE stone bruise on the ball

of my foot that was very painful for more than a week, and I asked

him if there was anything I could do for it, as it was difficult to

walk and I preferred not to take Advil. He told me I needed to get

my lymph fluids moving down there, and recommended that I press down

HARD and run my fingers from my big toe towards my heel over and

over. Whenever I was off my feet that day, I did that many times.

By the next morning, the pain was gone. I didn't even have to tape

the inside of a banana peel to it as he recommended. :)

He impressed me with that, so I saw a chance to run my story by him

from the beginning. (Tons of antibiotics as a child, hyperactivity,

substance abuse/alcohol abuse, anxiety, stress/system shutdown

(strep/tonsilitis/sinus infection) in 1998 at which time I did 2

rounds of strong antibiotics WHILE continuing to drink beer,

energy/mental shutdown, candida diet in 2001 (no help), adrenal/male

problems in 2004 following 2 rounds of prednisone for poison ivy...

followed by 2 rounds of Cipro (at which time brain REALLY shut down,

and I lost most of my energy and motivation). Etc...

He told me that candida was probably not my MAIN problem regarding

energy, but that it might be AN issue for other health problems. He

said I should research " Mitochondrial Regeneration " and follow a

protocol for it. He said that the mitochondria exist in each cell,

and are responsible for energy production. He says they are very

similar in form to bacteria, and that they can be severely affected

by antibiotics. If they are compromised, then someone can lose the

ability to generate energy and systems can shut down. I asked him if

low body temperature could be a result, and he said " yes, " because if

one has lower energy production, then they would have lower

temperature as well.

I looked up and found a protocol, but since I'm at work, I don't have

it now. It's pretty simple... I think CoQ10 is one of the things to

resolve the problem, and from what I remember, that protocol would

fit in with this diet/regime very well. I'll post the link when I

get home.

His theory sounded pretty plausible, especially for some of us who

don't have MAJOR candida symptoms, but have low energy, brain fog,

etc.... following antiobiotics use. I'm not suggesting THIS diet is

not needed, because I also have candida symptoms that crop up when I

cheat as well. But I've noticed several people who have been on the

diet a year or more and still complain about fatigue/brain fog, and

perhaps there is another missing component.

His advice was spot on for my stone bruise, at least! :)
