Guest guest
Sue, Thanks for the reply. First thing Monday morning I will start the "bugging" process. By the way, Apnea doctors, his Pediatrician, and ITAP doctors have said all along that it is nothing to really worry about as his head will round out as he starts sitting and crawling and walking. That frustrates me to no end. It seems to me that they should have shown some concern when he was diagnosed with Torticollis and treated for it. The PT told us of the importance of "belly time" but it was presented to us in a way that it would help strenghthen the neck muscles. I really wish we were more educated on the importance of positioning and why it should be done. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Sitting thinking of what you have said leads me to believe that maybe the Specialist is not "squeezing" us in due to the fact that we have no real diagnosis. We have an appointment with 's pediatrician on Tues. to show him and make him recognize that there is a problem here. Do you think it is possible for the Pediatrician to order the x-rays and take a look at them to rule out the premature fusing of a suture? Although, based on everything I have learned over the last few days, I highly doubt that is the problem. The wait wouldn't be nearly as agonizing if we knew for sure that that is not an issue. I hope I am wording things the right way, I have always had a problem putting my feelings into words. Cheryl
Guest guest
Cheryl, Our orthotist always used both 's actual and adjusted ages, as she was also a premie. In terms of her treatment, he stressed that her adjusted age was most important and that it was like starting treatment on a younger baby. She got her band a 8 months, 1 week and he said it was like banding a 7 month baby ( she was 5 weeks premie). Does that make sense? Hope this helps. BTW, it can't hurt to constantly call the specialist, ask for cancellations, ask to be put on a list for cancellations, anything you can do to get in earlier. Mention plagiocephaly and the time window for treatment and how you need to be seen ASAP! It worked for us...just my 2 cents. Good luck. Guest guest
Cheryl, Soooo many of us have been told that it would " round out " on its own and that may be the case for a mild case of plagio. We began actively repositioning when she was 9 weeks old and got no improvement. Even at 6 months, our ped said it might not get better but that she was a girl and hair would cover it. He did not notice her facial asymmetry and ear misalignment. After internet research, I got another opinion from a craniofacial specialist familiar with plagio who got us in within 2 weeks due to the time sensitive nature of this treatment. Please be sure your specialist is familiar with plagiocephaly, otherwise the wait will have been for nothing. Hope this helps and good luck. Sue & Bakersfield, CA > Sue, > Thanks for the reply. Guest guest
P.S. I remember being so relieved when the doctor said it would round out on its own and trusting him so blindly. Never again!!! BTW, it's pretty much impossible to reposition a 9 month old who usually can sleep however he wants! lol Sue > > Sue, > > Thanks for the reply.
