This was my second one in less than 6 months. Bummer. I just finished my 10 days of Levaquin, a powerful antibiotic. It fixed me up, and I decided to have a follow up appointment with Dr. Ivan Goldsmith here in Vegas. For you local ladies, he is one of the doctors that Channel 3 interviewed for their breast implant dangers report last March. He was a very nice man (although I didn't like their clinic that much), and interestingly, he did state that women who have had breast implants have had a higher incidence of interstitial cystitis. He didn't like the fact that I have had 2 kidney infections in 6 months--he said that is not normal, so he is going to schedule an ultrasound of my kidneys, after we get the results of my blood work back. I am really excited to see if my blood work comes back normal. The last test about 2 and a half years ago showed an elevated rheumatoid factor. (So , I am finally get this checked out! I'll keep you posted!) Anyway, I looked up info on Interstitial Cystitis, and this is what Dr. Weil says about it: "Intersititial cystitis, a less common and much more stubborn inflammation of the bladder, often resists medical treatment. Persons with this problem must be even more scrupulous aboat eliminating sources of bladder irritation. Guided imagery therapy may be helpful. Be aware that toxic chemicals eliminated in the urine may concentrate in the bladder, causing irritation and possibly increasing the risks of cancer. This is another reason to avoid contact with chemicals, poisons, and strong-smelling fumes." OOOkay, well, I'll just keep up my detoxing regime, and hopefully I won't have to deal with anymore kidney infections! It is only about $7 per quart as opposed to about $12-14 on the internet. Apparently it is used quite often by horse owners to treat injuries.
