Guest guest
If you want to cut up, instead of restricting your calories, stop drinking carbonated sodas (read some of 's stuff if you haven't already: http://www.skwigg.com/id24.html) and do more cardio. Restricting calories is usually not a good way to go. Are you following BFL? " Nothing is more powerful for your future than being a gatherer of good ideas and information. Guest guest
I think you're cutting calories back too far. Remember, too, on BFL you can eat ALL the green veggies you want... so if you're getting hungry sooner than you should be, eat more green veggies. Guest guest
You could try posting a couple of your typical menus to see if anything stands out. You may be right if your gut feeling is that you're not eating enough. Generally, a BFL meal should hold you for 2-3 hours if the portion was right for you. If you're starving an hour later, it was too small. If you're still stuffed 4 hours later it was too big. Try using some more filling and calorie-dense meal choices. A steak and potato, or a sandwich on whole wheat bread will stay with you a lot longer than a protein shake, for example. You don't have to give up your goal of cutting up. There's a healthy balance where you're gradually losing but still eating enough to feel good. You can also deliberately vary your calorie intake (zig-zag). On days where you're really hitting it hard (weight days for me), have slightly bigger portions or an extra meal. On days when you're not quite as active, keep it lean and allow a decent calorie deficit. Hope that gives you some ideas. Re: Tired Also I forgot to add...I do also sometimes feel the hunger coming on even if its not even close to my next meal...I 'm lost!!!HELP! Guest guest
That is so right Lydia. When I attempted BFL a couple of years ago I was eating chicken, chicken and more chicken and I ended up anemic. This time I'll make sure I take a good multi- vitamin. I found I was getting splitting headaches when lifting heavy and I would be tired all the time. If you are not taking a multi, make sure you are also getting enough vitamin C. That helps the body absorb iron. Bel ---- Original message ---- >Date: Sat, 14 Aug 2004 14:19:17 -0400 >From: " Lydia " <groups@...> >Subject: RE: RE: Tired >< > > > Oh yeah. Guest guest
That's true. It does no good to take an iron supplement if it's all going to go in the toilet! ; ) " Nothing is more powerful for your future than being a gatherer of good ideas and information. Guest guest
I was feeling tired too. I started tracking what I eat recently and when i did the nutrient breakdown, I saw that I wasn't getting enough iron... So I decided to add a little more red meat in there. I wasn't having ANY except free day, so now I have a little roast beef mid-week.... (yum!) but all in the name of nutrition > Oh yeah. Iron deficiency will make you very tired. Guest guest
Maybe I missed this in the book, but did you say you can eat all the green veggies you want? Do you not have to count the carbs from the green veggies to your meals? I have been limiting myself of veggies with meals because they add so many carbs. Please clarify this for me. Thanks! Guest guest
You can eat all the peas, broccoli, green beans, etc. that you like. You can eat them with all six meals if you like... and you can eat ANY size portion of them that you like. You don't count the calories, and they're not considered as " carbs " on BFL. Due to their high fiber content, they will keep your digestion moving along well, and you can never go wrong to get a lot of them. Guest guest
Ok, that helps a little. You have a lot of meal replacements and not much real food or fiber. Four of your six meals are basically liquid. That would definitely leave me hungry! There are all kinds of options, but I would boost the food volume and crunch factor like so: 1) a six egg white omelet, tons of chopped veggies, and a big piece of cantaloupe (or wheat toast if I was really hungry). 2) 1 cup cottage cheese, 1 pint berries (same meal, bigger portion, more fiber) 3) looks fine (turkey & veggies on ww tortilla) 4) big spinach salad with grilled chicken and an orange 5) looks fine (fish, yam, salad) 6) looks fine, unless I was starving then I'd have turkey slices and a pear or something Also, make sure you're getting some healthy fat in there somewhere. Too little fat will leave you hungry and tired. You can put some slivered almonds in a spinach salad, an avocado wedge in your turkey wrap, an olive oil vinaigrette on your dinner salad. Just a little here and there really helps. I know that packing around a bunch of real food can be a nuisance. Bars and shakes are a lot easier on the go. Load up a cooler with things like: tuna pouches, oranges, apples, string cheese, turkey slices, dried apricots, hard boiled eggs, bagged lettuce, low fat salad dressing, grapes, almonds. It's kind of a pain but you won't be hungry anymore. :-) Re: Tired Here is a typical day menu for me: I space my meals of 2-3 hours NEVER more than 4 hours or the fatigue kicks into play. 1st- 1/2 cup of non instant oatmeal 1 scoop of Designer Whey Protein Powder 2nd- 1/2cup of cottage cheese w/ 6oz of low fat yogurt or fruit 0r Myoplex Shake 3rd- 3oz-3.5oz of Turkey or Chicken on whole wheat tortilla w/ lettuce tomato 4th- Most days its the same as the 2nd meal 5th- 3oz-3.5oz or 6oz of a piece of fish 1 yam or piece of fruit Sometimes I 'll have some salad and half a tomato 6th- Protein Pudding or Myoplex Shake

Guest guest
I didn't add it up. It's probably about the same calories as you were eating. Guest guest
*laugh* New game plan? Well, I have changed everything around...I'm doing The Biggest Loser workouts in the mornings (after doing the high intensity one, I know why football players and boxers are so darn fit!), but I still haven't made it to the Y this week. I've just been so tired lately. And I'm not sure if it's related, but all of a sudden, I'm dropping things a lot. *shrugs* Otherwise, I'm fine! If nothing else, I will do a quick workout tomorrow morning and go to the group aerobics tomorrow night. But thanks for asking, ! How are things going for you? I haven't read anything I like more than Make the Connection yet, but there are bits and pieces from several books that are helping me stay focused. Ugh...boys are fighting, must go. -Bonnie > > Bonnie you are doing fine on computer time and replying. How is the new > game plan going? I have been out of sorts for the past 2 weeks also... slowly building back up into the exercise routines. Doing ok with my eating choices... so-so with my water... I'll get there... Guest guest
Do you think it would help to take it in the middle of the day or early evening say about 1-2 hours before bed time? Maybe this way it can start to work and if you drone out it will be ok and the sleepy side effect may not be bad or maybe not as bad as when you took it right at bed time. ak --- Sue Chapman <chapmn47@...> wrote: > I used to take my Lex. 40 mg in the AM until I > discovered that it was making me sleepy.
