Guest guest
a, Kate made some good points. Mandy uses the c-pap machine, and so do I. I cannot believe the difference it has made in both of our lifes. Having a stroke and also a heart attack is a reality. I sadly know from personal experience. Please have your sleep test(s) and see what the specialist suggests. If I or Mandy would not have made the steps to using the c-pap, there is no doubt neither one of us would not be here today. Some of the advantages is: thinking more clearly, no extra tired moments at mid-morning and again in the afternoon. Not having to excuse yourself from yarns that are not your fault, and finding yourself waking up when you had no idea that you had fallen asleep. Also, apnea causes several other health issues, such as seizures. I have recently found out that my seizures are more induced from the lack of sleep, 'because' of the lack of oxygen! The medications were not helping me. My brain was so starved for oxygen, that a seizure-like moment would over-take me, and cause several problems. My life is so much more in order now. We do hope things will fall into place for you now, and you can get the help you need. Guest guest
Sleep apnea can occur with anyone, regardless of race, creed, religion, etc. It doesn't matter of the size of a person. Sleep apnea is caused by several problems. The most common is have a 'blockage' in the nasal area, or further down in the palette area. Both my daughter and myself have serious sleep apnea. Mandy's is caused by structure and central nervous system. Mine is caused by structure and also my weight. I do hope this info is helpful. Here is a great and informative URL http://health./health/Diseases_and_Conditions/Disea se_Feed_Data/Obstructive_sleep_apnea/ And another http://www.ask.com/main/metaanswer.asp?metaEngine=directhit & origin=0 & MetaURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esleepapnea%2Eorg%2F & qCat egory=jeeves & metaTopic=American+Sleep+Apnea+Association+%2D+ ASAA & ItemOrdinal=0 & logQID=E55069A78952D411A3930090278D1981 This is the actual American Sleep Apnea Association For info on just the sleep apnea itself, here is that site http://www.ask.com/main/metaanswer.asp?metaEngine=directhit & origin=0 & MetaURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esleepapnea%2Eorg%2F & qCat egory=jeeves & metaTopic=American+Sleep+Apnea+Association+%2D+ ASAA & ItemOrdinal=0 & logQID=E55069A78952D411A3930090278D1981 These are excellent sites, although very long. I did a search for you to find anything on sleep apnea, and this is the one that came up first. I use it on my own support group for fibromyalgia, since it is so common with that disease. I hope this has helped. Debi Hoggan of Utah *********************************** Freedom has not always been a matter of choice. Guest guest
Hi ! *hugs* to you! So glad that you're dose increase is done with!! I'll tell you what I do on days that I feel like that...it really helps me. I don't know if it will help you or not, but here's my suggestion... On days that I feel really bad, I write down all of my feelings, fears, frustrations, etc. on little scraps of paper...roll them up... I go to the local flower shop, and buy helium balloons. Put the papers in the balloons before they blow them up... Then I can send the worries away just by letting go of the balloons. I also do this on days that I'm really missing my little man, I write letters to him and send them to heaven for him. *hugs* wrote: > Hi y'all > > I want to know how you people out there handle days like the one I've > had. > > Coming out of a a bad night's sleep , very restless, full of ominous > doomy dreams, I've been almost completely negative today, the fear of > the future was back with enough force to make me physically sick, my > sense of humour had deserted me (always a bad sign my wife says)and I > even found I was feeling sorry for myself, the most futile of all > emotions > > All I could do was repeat to myself 'this will pass' and it has and > I'm now back in balance again but how do you cope with days like this > when you have, as yet, much more distressing physical symptoms than > me - how do you cope with days when your just so plain tired of > fighting (I'm tired of side effects and feeling ill all the time - > you must get that way from time to time). > > Answers, ah if only there were answers to problems like today (and if > anyone sends me the lyrics of 'There are more questions than answers' > I'll track them down and remonstrate with them personally and with a > big stick). > > Feeling better for moaning on at all you good people - I think I'll > sleep better tonight. > > Every ship must have a helmsman > > > > The Being Sick Community > > Visual problems with colors? > Click the link below and select the modify link to your right. Guest guest
Hi ! Actually, it's really hard to write the letters, but it feels so good to say everything that I want to say, if that makes any sense. Because I knew that Matty had a life-ending disease (isn't that funny?? they don't say " terminal " anymore, now it's " life-ending " ), I was lucky in the sense that I never put off saying anything to him. Anything that I wanted him to know, I said it loud and I said it often, and I know that he knew. He knew that I love him, how very proud I was to be his momma, how proud I was of him and his strength and courage. But sometimes it does help to say it all again, in a letter or whatever, and send it off to him. Matty loved balloons, so I know that he eagerly waits for the next balloon to come. As much as he loved them, he never could keep them for long :-) *hugs* K wrote: > I also do this on days that I'm really missing my little man, I > write letters to him and send them to heaven for him. > > Oh , > I am sitting here in tears thinking of you doing this, what a > beautiful thing to do :-) > *huge hugs* > :-) > > The Being Sick Community > > Visual problems with colors? > Click the link below and select the modify link to your right. Guest guest
It is legal in California but federally illegal. If the feds catch you, you're in trouble but if the State police come, you're okay. Does that make sense? There are all kinds of rules and regulations. I wouldn't chance it with my boys here. I have so many people coming and going all the time. Thanks for the idea. I hope it's legally legal soon. Guest guest
Hi Celine; It could be a multitude of things. Poor rest is definitely a starting place, then coupled with the fact that the sun isn't shining could be a factor. Do you ever experience the winter blues? The UV rays of the sun react on your skin to produce vitamin D which stimulates those good feelings. Vitamin D is a needed vitamin. So that could be it. But if you do not have a problem with the winter blahs like me it might be something else. What have you eaten today? And how much actual sound sleep did you get last night? Mechelle > Do any of you experience a really tired day once and a while? I have been eating right and doing my weights etc. ( not so great on the cardio side) I have had lots of extra energy, but not today. I feel like I can barely stay awake. I know that part of it is that I slept on the couch because my daughter came into our bed. But, I had 0 energy today. Is this my body's way of telling me something? Maybe it's not used to the weights and needs a rest? I got the new Energy magazine the other day. ( which is awesome this month by the way) I have started to use the workout plan in there. Maybe my body is in shock? Or could it just be the weather? It is gloomy and windy here today...I don't know what it is. I find that i am getting muscle and losing weight. Why the off day? > Celine:) > > >
Guest guest
Well it looks like the diet is in order. It has to be being sedentary today ( I experience the exact same things) and no sun. I really suggest (cause this helps me) that in the winter you get in the tanning bed if possible for at least 5 to 10 minutes a day. Especially if you live somewhere where it is really dreary in the winter. On days there is not much going on. Go ahead and take a walk around the neighborhood even if you have done your morning cardio and your weight training. I'm behind on the water today also so we both need to drink up! Do you have access to a tanning bed? Still can't hurt to go in the summer either even if just for 10 minutes. And if you are worried about wrinkles and all of that. You can use a sun screen and still get the effects of the UV rays reacting on your skin to create vitamin D. > > Do any of you experience a really tired day once and a while? Guest guest
You are most welcome! I love to help. And Canada is BEAUTIFUL! I've visited Montreal before and it was great. I live in North Carolina and it is hot as a fire cracker here. We do not even get snow any more. But it still gets a little cold in the winter and it rains like crazy from March till May which is obviously spring. Right now we are going through a drought though. We have the craziest weather. But good luck! I know you are going to do an awesome job. Also if you are using supplements, which I'm sure you need to to help with recovery (which will effect your energy levels) you can buy EAS brand on line at www.easdiscount.com for about half of what it costs in retail shops. I'm not sure if they ship to Canada though? You may want to go check it out. But 3 servings of Betagen & Glutamine a day on workout days will help you like you wouldn't believe. Your strength will increase and you will also notice you aren't as sore after your workouts. Also if you take a fat burner in the morning at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before your cardio this will help get you up and running in the morning. > > > Do any of you experience a really tired day once and a while? Guest guest
I do get the winter blues. That is why I started BFL when the sun was shining. I find that I stay inside and do nothing in the winter. That's when i really get fat. This could be the day that i am experiencing it. plus add on that we didn't have anything that needed to be done today, just stay at home all day. What I had to eat today: Carrot corn muffin ( recipe in the Energy magazine, made with cornmeal and carrots, thus the name) Oatmeal with cottage cheese Salmon with lettuce, cucumbers and dressing, and a apple Tuna chili ( recipe from MrsBishwits site) It's only 5:30 pm. So, I may get in one more thing to eat. I also drank maybe 3 glasses of water. Celine:) Re: Tired Hi Celine; It could be a multitude of things. Guest guest
I live in Alberta, Canada, so yes we get lots of yucky weather in the winter. I never thought of a tanning bed. Maybe then I won't look so sick in the winter either. LOL I am sure that I could go to any of the tanning places close to me. Like I said, I am sure that today was an off day and tomorrow is another day. Thanks for the info. Celine:) Re: Tired Well it looks like the diet is in order. Guest guest
As an alternative to the tanning booth, there are lamps which you can buy that simulate sunlight. Many people suffering from seasonal depression find them very helpful. Alys

Now if only we could store some of our summer sunlight up, today we got over 18 hours. And he was sunny yeah!!!
Guest guest
I just did that yesterday, just wiped out by mid afternoon and I was on track with all my meals and water and exercise, although I did spend all day Sunday working hard outside, delayed recovery from hard work I think. Were you busy all weekend? > Do any of you experience a really tired day once and a while? Guest guest
When you're working out as hard as you are (esp. weigh training), your body needs sleep to recuperate and build muscle. If you do nothing all day, you can get away with sleeping 5-6 hrs. a night, but you're an athlete now. I need 7-9 hrs. of sleep a night (8 is perfect), and I make sure I get it most of the time. If I have to, I won't go out with friends; my body and health are more important to me than partying. Those are the sacrifices you make. You can't build muscle and lean out without sleep. Indeed, studies show that a lack of sleep causes your body to release cortisol, a stress hormone, related to abdominal fat storage. Scary, eh? Dani > I am half way through week 4 and I am so tired. Guest guest
Hi there Elly, So good to hear from you! Sleep is good for you, but it can be annoying to feel so fatigued you fall asleep sitting up. Sorry to hear of all your pain. How about the arm? Is that pain finally better? Hopefully we can somehow meet this summer. At this time, I'm fighting with the mtx again. I keep trying to tell my body this will help, and it keeps telling me " don't like it..don't want that stuff. " I'll take the shots for a couple of weeks yet and see what happens. I think I'm " between a rock and a hard place. " .....again. How many years this can go on I just don't know. Hugs Elly, ~~tricia~~ Wisconsin ***************************************************************************** ******* -- Tired Hi friends, I just got back from my visit down-state to my Rheumy, and I have literally been in bed since!I am sooo tired that I fall asleep sitting up!I have to have an x-ray of my back.(I knew it was coming) I;ve had a pretty bad back for about 2 months,my spine feels like the bones in my shoulders, which is yucky, but I shall overcome!!!I want to send out a prayer for all the men and women serving our country andd their families and friends.I am so unhappy for those who are seperated from their loved ones and for all thos people who may suffer because of the war,but I truly believe in our great country and our ability to bounce back.Jen is your husband deployed? Guest guest
Do you listen to music while you do cardio? It really helps me. Try making a tape or CD (if you have a burner) of your favorite upbeat songs. They will motivate you and keep you going until the end. > I just can seem to muster up the energy to do my cardio. Any > suggestions? I do it first thing in the morning, but I am really tired > and want to quit about half way thru. I get lots of rest, and do > great on my weight lifting days, but cardio is HELL!
