Guest guest
Trudy,What stomach meds are you on? It's pretty much the norm to be on a couple during treatment... it's really hard to function without them... but what do they have you on exactly? I had Prilosec and something else.... it was a blue and white oval tablet.... can't remember the name offhand.... I also went thru TUMs like they were going out of style. The whole problem when you are on treatment is that you are not eating right and it's pretty much impossible to eat right. Plus the Ribavirin causes some stomach issues on its own. Hence the stomach meds. The stomach pain from the Ribavirin can be so intense without any medication that alone, that issue would cause a lot of people to stop treatment. When I had the very first attack of the stomach pains I was in bed screaming bloody murder. Paramedics were called that time... I scared the crap out of my hubs. Luckily for me, the medics were quite familiar with Hep C treatment and knew what was going on. They got in contact with my doc, gave me the right meds and even went so far as to stay with me while the hubs picked up the script. Saved me a hospital trip. They sedated me too! It's something that usually gets addressed pretty early on and you wind up on those silly pills all thru treatment and usually for about a month afterwards as well. Guest guest
3 yrs ago I was suffering from malnutrition. GI that I saw first for HepC, gave me Zegerid ( wasn't OC then). But over the years it wasn't enough. Now I take generic Zegerid x40 am and Ranitidine 150 in evening. Stomach issues were never reflux or heartburn. Anything I ate burned esophagus. Bad!! Bad enough that I only ate VERY little. That GI was a major dick! My docs now say I should have had a scope , not just meds with no follow up. After I'm done with tx I will get scope. But this reflux & heartburn is different . I have no doubt it is tx related. And yeah, I'm using Tums toohttp://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877 " "A well- behaved woman never made history"...Mae Westhttp://oktravels.wordpress.com http://allrecipes.com/cook/TrudyK/profile.aspx On Dec 29, 2010, at 11:24 AM, Theresa Gottlieb <theresagottlieb@...> wrote: Trudy,What stomach meds are you on? Guest guest
The meds cause a thrush type thing in your month stomach and esphogis. I got it and my gastro gave me swish and swallow. Great stuff taste bad though ask them about it. They should know you need it already if it is burning like that. It will feel better in just a couple of uses. The true name of the med is Nystatin Oral. I had it so bad I had 2 bottles still have one left. expired 11/10. Guest guest
Beth, thanks for the info. I have had thrush several time; I have a swish and spit- Miracle Mouthwash. Seems anytime I go a couple of days not using it, more thrush. Didn't know it could be in throat and stomach. http://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877 " "A well- behaved woman never made history"...Mae Westhttp://oktravels.wordpress.com http://allrecipes.com/cook/TrudyK/profile.aspx On Dec 29, 2010, at 6:05 PM, Beth Frey <bethfrey42301@...> wrote: The meds cause a thrush type thing in your month stomach and esphogis.
