Get a second opnion-FAST! If it's anemia, that's

normal with treatment, and even a good sign.

Trudy,Just my humble opinion here, but if you can get him to keep you on for a few more weeks it would improve you chances...  I have read, just now, where 12 weeks of treatment is sufficient if you were a rapid responder but the article I just read is classifying a rapid responder as undetectable after 7 days of treatment....  Your first test was at 5 weeks so we don't know for sure if you were clear at a week.  Even an extra week or two of treatment might make the difference if you can hold on that long.  You've gone so far on treatment,  I'd hate for you to stop and then have the damn thing mutate and come back with a vengeance.  I mean you are already this far into it....  and you're only going to be doing a total of 24 it's not like it's 48 weeks.  I would really want to know where he is getting his 99% figure from..  If he had a viral load at the end of the first week I would agree with him but he doesn't so he really doesn't know how quickly you cleared.  My fear would be having gone thru 16 weeks with 8 weeks left and stopping early only to have it come back... better safe than sorry?  I'd want to know his logic behind stopping treatment...  I know you have some other stuff going on but I'd ask why he doesn't want you to finish 8 weeks of treatment when we know your chances are better of reaching SVR if you finish.

I have read where many of you did post-tx labs and VL was back. I'm

confused and worried. Dr says there is better than 99% chance that I

will remain clear. It's because of new health concerns ( which I don't

we should stop and that we will have achieved the goal of no HCV.

Whatmakes my situation different ? Type 2b,? Or is the Doc painting a

Marcia, she's not dealing with anemia..  well she is but that's not the big issue here..  there are other concerns.  She's dealing with several different doctors and a plethera of symptoms that are not Hep C related.

TrudyI honestly know nothing about genotype 2b's. However, I do really believe that you have to go with your Dr's advice on this one. Like ny, you have got more possible sides than the average bear and so I believe your Dr. is taking everything into consideration. Really, it's only a matter of 7 weeks difference. You really have to take care of all those other things that have come up and not worry about the hep, past that 17 weeks.I don't know - but, I thing you are going to be just awfully damn fine.Luv Gloria
