Guest guest
Greetings, Just back from the S700 in Angola and now in Equatorial Guinea. Seems they are keen to keep me and my relief for now as ex pat medic's. The place is very basic for medical support, in fact the closest place for a decent clinic/hospital is in Douala - Cameroon. Certainly makes life more interesting, especially as it seems to be the capital for cerebral malaria over there in Guinea!!. Oh wee, 4 weeks off from those pesky mozzies!! Guest guest
Good morning and welcome to our group. I'm a day late reading your email and I see Shay and others already answered your question on supplies. So I'll just say "hi" and hope you enjoy our group. We have a lot of fun here. So stop in often and don't be afraid to chime in or ask questions. - Ilion,NY supplies Hello everyone, I am just really getting into this soaping thing and looking for places in NY for oils like veggie oil, coconut, palm kernel, sweet almond oil and etc. I really don't want to buy these heavy items from clear across the country because of shipping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Dont know of any link HV posts but in our area Barnardos Family Centre are doing a grand job by sending out a minibus (we are a rural area) and taking in mothers and children for a day out to the centre including free lunch and wonderful facilities. Guest guest
Dear Judy, Cambridge had a project called Parentability which supported parents with a learning disability- I was put in touch with them once around 1998 through the voluntary sector umbrella group Directions Plus (01223-569600)which may also know of other more recent initiatives in East Anglia. Good luck, Woody. > > > > >
Guest guest
Dear Judy and Woody, I think 'Parentability' is a section of the National Childbirth Trust and information could be found through them. Guest guest
Hi, I have constant pain in my lower back (sciatic disc/nerve) damage from lifting my 14 yr old daughter for many years. the pain travels down my right leg continuosly, and occasionally down my left leg. I cannot sit through the day at my job as an administrative assistant, needing to get up frequently to relieve the pressure on my back. Also, I cannot sit through a movie at the theaters any more.. just too painful. I still have 2 disabled daughters (both have Spinal Muscular Atrophy)who rely on me (as a single mom) for nearly everything. I've been told to remain as active as possible (which I try to do) and it seems to only make the pain/ knot just over the sciatic area/ bruising in the same place worse. Because I am a single parent, I cannot take the medications that 'knock you out'. I have to be alert in case something should happen! Are there any medications out there that will help alleviate the pain and will NOT make me go into a coma (like flexeril and soma do). Some days I can walk fine, others it is extremely painful to walk! I have 3 (soon to be 4) dogs! They are my furry children, and bring great pleasure and companionship to my girls. I am looking forward to meeting all of you! > WELCOME TO NEW MEMBER sweeetheart53. > I hope that we can be of service to you as you deal with your pain. > We all share chronic back or neck pain.[or both] > This is a group of caring people who wish to share our experience ,strength and hope as we all deal with the daily task of living with chronic pain in the back and neck. > Let us hear from you so that we may know how to best help you . > There will always be someone here that will answer you when you ask a question or just need to vent your frustrations as you deal with your pain. > > So ,let us hear from you. > MAY YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY TODAY THAN YESTERDAY ,AND NOT AS GOOD A DAY AS TOMORROW. > TAKE AS BEST CARE AS YOU CAN,AND BE SAFE > > > > > > > > > REMEMBER ALL OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED SERVICE OF OUR NATION > PRAY THAT THEY MAY BE SAFE AND SOUND IN BODY AND MIND
Guest guest
Hello Kathleen welcome to the group. I too suffer from sciatic nerve pain in my left leg constantly and sometimes my right. But last dec I had a dorsal spinal stimulator implanted and it does help with some of my pain. It will never be 100% they say if you get 50% you are lucky. BUT before I got this done even with tons of strong meds I could not walk or sit hardly at all. You might check into this with your dr. Also check out the links section you will find some help there too. Also have you tried taking Nuerontin ??? It blocks nerve pain and is a pretty good drug for sciatic pain. I have been on it for 2 yrs now and I know it helps me a lot. Best of luck I hope this helps you some. If you want to know more about the stimulator I'll be glad to help. Again welcome to the group. Guest guest
Hello and thanks for letting me join the group. I have had back pain for a couple of years but last year in September my leg and hip started bothering me and after several x-rays, dr. appts, therapy and finally a MRI, they told me I had herniated discs in my lower back, I believe L3-4, L4-5, and L5-6. Anyways I had a decompressive lumbar laminectomy to relieve the pressure off of my nerves. The surgery helped immediately. Then in February of this year, I was in a car accident which resulted in a neck injury. I had neck surgery in September to remove a herniated disc C-4,C-5 that was pressing on my spinal cord. I still have a little bit of pain but it is much better. Anyways, thanks for letting me in the group to talk with people who understand my pains!!! > WELCOME , > I would like to take a moment to welcome new member missdanigyrl to the group, > So, WELCOME TO THE GROUP to the group.
