Teri,All of those symptoms I have, but I have been told that depression causes fatigue pain etc. I have heard of fibromyalgia but i can't figure out how they diagnose you with it since those same symptoms are of depression. Do they scan your body?? Does blood work tell if you have fibromyalsia? txsharonFrom: Theresa Gottlieb <theresagottlieb@...> Sent: Wed, December 1, 2010 9:34:27 PMSubject: Re: [ ] New Members

Strong one.. not so much. I am actually pretty much a wimp. Problems after treatment.. yep. We couldn't figure out why some of the side effects I was experiencing during treatment never went away. The fatigue, pain, depression.. It took until April of this year for me to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Apparently it set in during treatment so when treatment was over, it was still there. I also still have a compromised immune system. Not as bad as it was during treatment, but I never fully got it back. When I get sick now, I get sick hard and for a long time. I avoid sick people. I have never been able to return to work. I am on disability. My ability to multi-task is gone.. actually, sometimes my ability to perform a single task doesn't work. I get distracted very easily. I don't drive as often as I used to pre-treatment. Actually I had to stop

driving during treatment and it took me over a year to get back behind the wheel of a car again.. and even now, it's just short distances. I get lost easily now. No clue why, I just lose my bearings even in familiar places. It was a bit of a trade off, but I am no longer in fear of dying. At least not anytime soon.

Sharon,Depression does cause fatigue and pain, but Fibro pain is something quite different.  Fibro pain can be debilitating.  You are diagnosed by symptoms and pain spots.  There is no scan or blood tests currently to diagnose it.

TeriYou know that I have been saying that those muscle relaxers are doing a great job on my Fibro?? But, there is one spot that continues to throb every day and it's weird. That is my left elbow!! Now, I'm right-handed and you would think it should be the right; but, I'm grateful that it's not. Sure, I know that the muscle relaxers are masking my pain; but, I don't care!! There are still lots of things that I can't do and I am very careful about knowing my limit. I hate it when the flare up comes. Even tonight, I was bringing my laundry in and because I'm out of town tomorrow, I tried to get one of those milk boxes with a whole bunch of stuff out of my truck; but, no way!! So, I

think my great-niece is coming back with me tomorrow evening, so I'll get her to do that.Gloria

Gloria,The elbow is one of the pressure points where you know it's Fibro!  Elbows, Knees, the V around your neck....  there are lots of them.  My worst spot is my hip socket...  ugh the pain that one causes....

TeriYup I knew that it was a pressure point. It just seems funny that the meds are helping the Fibro by a great deal, except that one elbow. Also, I have learned to be very careful with what I can and can not do. Even the wrong pair of shoes could cause a bout with the pain. Good thing it's winter now and I can wear my western boots. They are the most comfortable things I wear except my sneakers in the summer that I slip in and out of.I can't walk very far, without that horrible hip pain!! So bad that I stop and sometimes can't help the tears. Thus, I'm usually not very far from my truck. Sometimes it embarrasses me, having a handicap placard, cause it won't seem to the

casual onlooker, what I suffer with. They don't see that when I get out of my truck, I have to have a few seconds while everything settles into place. Actually, even when I get up from this chair, it's good that I have things to hang onto, again while everything settles into place.GloriaPS - another great reason about living in an RV. Not a whole lot of rooms to have to walk into etc.
