If you get anemic enough, you can, in fact have a heart attack on treatment.  I was at that point several times during treatment.  If your Hgb goes under 9 you are in jeopardy and have to be very careful about stressing yourself.  Just walking up a flight of stairs can set off chest pains and palpitations.  I have heard of some people whose Hgb got down to 7 and their doctors didn't order a transfusion...  that is quite scary.  Once they get your blood volume back up, the risk goes away.  But it is possible.

I had chest pains on treatment when my blood volume was okay as well.  Those were from my thyroid.  Listen to your body and you should be okay...  if you are exhausted, rest.  Lots of fluids will also help...  there I go again with the water huh?

Hi Trudy and Beth

The HCV TX will not give you a heart attack unless you possibly have some underlying heart problem, [like me], or a hemato-oncologic disease [blood - tumors - cancer].

And then only in certain cases.

There are cases of low platelets, anemia, and blood counts, etc, but usually the doctor will indentify these and make corrections, or stop treatment.

The same goes for kidney, eye, digestive, nerve, or skin problems.

I have done some research about weither HCV TX could cause death.

http://health.dir./group/ /links/TREATMENT_OF_HEPATITIS_C_001253393566/DEATHS_FROM_HCV_TREATMENT_001272511906/

It can if it is mis-managed by the doctor treating one, but then only under certain extreme circumstances of health, or PROFESSIONAL negligence.

in Hawaii for example, could have died had his doctor not finally woke up, and halted his treatment.

I personally believe s kidneys were failing, possibly because he wasnt drinking or eating enough.

Thats just my opinion tho.

Another opinion I have is that 's doctor was more interested in the clinical trial was on, than in 's wellbeing.......money??????

was responding favorably to HCV TX at week 12, and should have had more personal attention and support, so that he could have finished treatment without so much discomfort.

grrrrrrrrrrr

Anyway, I ramble. LOL :-)

If you are truely concerned about your heart - by all means - see your doctor and insist on being tested.

Do not take 'no' or BS for an answer.

Remember - its your body and life at stake, not the doctors.

- BUT -

More than likely, it is the meds making you feel uncomfortable.

They are very strong.

Just my thoughts on this topic.

I so totally understand. I am also very fearful of my heart giving out or heart attack before I can finish tx. All anyone ever says is drink more water. I get that water increases blood volume & that let's the heart work easier. But I have and I just wish my Doc could hear how its acting. Maybe there isn't a problem, so I tell myself not to stress over it.

Someone asked me today if my " tx " was working and I said yes, if it doesn't kill me first. Sometimes it just feels that way. Damn Dragon sure fights hard! http://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877    "
