I am on bio-identical hormones but can't afford them anymore..are there safer alternatives for my liver? I don't want to go through the hot flashes etc. again!------------------------------------

Marie,I took hormones for one year only and that was after a hysterectomy.  I was 49.  My best friend is a nurse.. she saw the hormones and took them away from me.  The hot flashes came back but went away after a few months...  you really don't need anything.  And I had my ovaries removed too so I have nothing helping me.  No problems with hot flashes...

soy, soy milk in your coffee, soy nuts as a snack, they helped me with the hot flashes and night sweats.

I have never believed in hormone therapies for something that a woman's body just has to go through. However, I did give a try to the Black Cohosh and some kind of root. But, then I started tx!!! I couldn't have told you the difference between a hot flash from changing hormones or a slight fever from tx. But, I can say that to some degree or other, I had them for 2 yrs.
