Guest guest
I'm with you on Halloween, TeriMc's used to give kids a free something if they dressed up - so, my girlfriend and I would hide out in Woolco, stick a mask on their face before taking them to Mickey D's. Next, we lived in the country, so I would just take my son to the local community bonfire. In fact, I'm absolutely in favour of those kind of activities.Just think about it - we try to teach our children not to talk to strangers etc. Yet, we help them get dressed up and walk them around the neighbourhood, BEGGING for treats. Nope - my son went out just once while he was still young enough. After that, it was the usual concern that he wasn't doing something somewhere that he shouldn't.As for the door - I keep the door locked, the lights off and just won't open it.Gloria Just my 2 cents here... i LOATHE Halloween. Always have, even as a kid. Long story as to why and I won't get into it on forum. But I don't even like answering my door on Halloween. My kid never had the interest to go begging for candy.. he asked me when he was pretty young if it was okay for me to just buy him candy instead of him putting on a stupid costume. I readily agreed. Now, however, he does the Halloween thing at a local bar every year. He's won the costume contest a few times. For me, I'm glad the hubs is off on Sunday. He can deal with the door. I had cervical cancer at 24; but, it was caught soon enough that I had my one and only child almost 5 years later. I stuck to just one child because I was single having him. To this day, he is the most important person in my life. However, when no prince arrived on the scene by the time he was four, I knew that I did not want another and have such a huge difference in age. Now, I have my doubts that he will ever make me a grandmother, so - I'm a surrogate grandmother now to my nieces kids. Three girls and a new boy. That's two nieces. Also, I'm close with my almost 19 year old great-niece. Again, more because her grandmother is a twit and has not been there for them, even though their mother died 8 yrs ago.BUT, I actually hate Halloween and have never got in any kind of spirit for it. Then the thought of 15 kids all in one place, is more than my nerves could take. Yesterday, I had 3 ten-yr old girls and the 3 yr old. That just about broke me. Unbelievably, the 3 yr old was not being the devil child for a change. But, 10 yr olds sure do giggle a lot and what they find funny is more than I can understand. However, just to see all four girls having a treat at Tim Horton's was really nice. Gloria Hello everyone, i am particularly depressed this week see the domestic violence shelter i am at has 15 children tonight is family night & we are decorating the house with halloween decorations & i am trying not to think of the injection i must go do while the kids are occupied. i never had kids ovarian cancer @ 24 took away Blessed be marie--------- Sent from AT & T's Wireless network using Mobile Email
