Hi Gang I have this dreaded thing too and I don't have cats or animals of any

kind (except the strays in my yard) since I am allergic, so I guess that

rules out the cat thing.

willing participant. I hope those with severe allergies have cats who are

more compliant that mine is.

I think cats can carry lots of germs and since many dig outside to do their duty, they get even more bacteria. You should be sure to wear protective gloves when working in the garden because of this and other critters.

I was told that after transplant that there could be no pets or plants in the house for 3 months and reptiles should be taken out now because of the higher risk of infections and parasites. Everyone wants to take my dog who is an adorable, if spoiled, shih tzu but no one has offer to take care of me :) I know my place around here....heeee...hee.

Take care,

Hello all. Through 's site, case on useing EFT on animals, we met a lady

who is an Animal Communicator. She's doing healing work on 2 of our cats. But

best, we've invited her over (we live in France & she also speaks French) to

give her training seminar to teach us to communicate with animals; especially to

receive their communication, as I think they do receive ours!

See her case on " the Dog who Chewed Everything at 's site www.emofree.com ,

Adrienne, I personally don't see any problems. We have always had cats around

unvaccinated children. Some people say that cats can smother young children. I

have never heard or seen a case of it though. Although others might have, it

seems to be more an urban myth to me. And unless the cat has a disease of some

sort, which it shouldn't have coming from a shelter. Here in Australia, they

put the animals down that can't be adopted out because of problems. The only

concern I would have is for the poor cat. It has most likely been vaccinated up

to date.

Hope this helps

Please excuse the rather blunt question, but why wouldn't it be safe? Is it

the fact that your baby is unvaxed that bothers you, or do you mean is it

safe to have a cat around a 5mo in general?

Illnesses don't cross the species barrier too easily, if at all, and if you

re concerned about something like listeria, whether your child is vaxed or

unvaxed doesn't make any difference.

Could you be a little more specific please?

I am just one of those crazy people that over think things! I was

worried that my baby could get some disease from the cat since she is

not vaxed. I have another daughter that has autism, and that is what

got me started on not vaccinating this child. My doctor tells me at

every visit about all the diseases that could kill my daughter since

I am not vaxing. Needless to say, I am looking for another doctor.

But it still scares me. Now I am freaking out over everything, even

things that might sound crazy to others.

I just want to make sure my baby is safe, and need a little

reassuring.

Thanks!

Hi Adrienne,

I do understand - completely! When my daughter was born I was a bit that

way. :o) Still am in some respects.

We brought our baby home to a house with 2 cats. We'd rescued them as

kittens and they were about 3 when dd was born. We were given all sorts of

warnings about how the cats would smother her and jump on her and scratch

her, but aside from our one cat sitting by her pram and meowing furiously

each time she made a sound - as though we couldn't hear her! - they were no

problem at all. They were indoor cats, so had no opportunity to bring

anything home, but both dd and the cats were unvaxed, and there were no

issues with illness at all. I can't guarantee you won't have allergy issues

- our dd is sensitive to our one remaining puss, although not outright

allergic - but nothing else I can think of. If you don't have any allergy

history in the family, it shouldn't be an issue. Your puss will be more at

risk from your little one in a few months' time! LOL!

I know some people say that listeriosis can be a problem from the litter

tray, but I'm sure you can keep your baby and the litter separate without

too much trouble, if indeed such a risk exists. I am now very sceptical of

all the *risks* that we're told about - because there's usually money in it

for the source of the warnings. This applies to doctors too - they make

money from vaccines, remember.

Stay with the list and do lots of reading - you'll soon feel reassured! And

enjoy your new pet!

You are not crazy Adrienne. Just a victim of the brainwashing we have all

endured. Just keep researching, and eventually you will get past your fears.

Also know you are not alone. Many others on this list also have similar fears.

Once you learn the realities, then things will get easier. And know that you

have nothing to fear from your new pet. The owner of this list has some great

courses on offer at a minimal cost. She barely covers her own costs for the

amount she puts into it. Well worth considering, as they will give you all the

info you need to take back control of your own thoughts. Doctors make money out

of telling you these things.

Your baby should be fine around the cat. I've never, ever heard of a

cat giving a baby a disease. The only adverse thing I can think of is

you might find she has allergies to the cat, but you can deal with

that if you find that's the case.

You are allowing yourself to be bullied and influenced by your doctor,

who is obviously not as educated on the subject of vaccines as he

SHOULD be, being a medical professional and all, but hardly any of

them are. That tells me you need to research more. Becoming very

educated on the subject of vaccines is empowering and allows you to

relax a little and trust that your child's body knows what to do to

keep her safe and well. Your child is actually in LESS danger because

you are not vaccinating, not MORE. Vaccines don't work. Period. So

if you vaccinate, not only are you exposing your child to all the crap

in the shot, but you still have the chance that they are going to

become sick with the same illness that they've been vaccinated for.

On the other hand, if your child comes by one of these diseases in the

wild, you have not exposed your child to the toxins and poisons in the

vaccine that would overload her system, so her system will be better

able to fend off a disease on it's own with less work. This will

ultimately make your child's immune system even that much stronger

because contracting diseases such as chicken pox, measles, mumps,

rubella, etc. gives TRUE immunity. The shots don't, which is why you

have to get booster after booster after booster.

Enjoy your new kitty and your new baby, and when you're up for those

late-night feeds, use the time to research. That's what I did. I

decided if I was going to be up anyway, and didn't stand a chance of

catching up on my sleep, I may as well learn all I could about

vaccines during that time, so I'd latch my nursling and read or look

up information on the Net. LOL

Shouldn't be a problem. Get a herbal dewormer and don't use the nasty chemical

flea killers - they are dangerous for the cat and anyone touching the cat. Food

grade diatomaceous earth is good as a flea powder and as a parasiticide in the

cat's food. It's action is mechanical. However, wear a mask for comfort as it is

like talcum powder. It won't hurt the cat to lick it off. Also sprinkle it where

the cat sleeps, indoors and outdoors. DE is used in grain silos to keep the

insect population down, so you probably eat it without knowing it.

http://www.dirtworks.net/Diatomaceous-Earth.html

Don't feed the cat on the dry supermarket garbage and no further vaccinations

for the cat.

Shirley's Wellness Cafe is a good source of alternative info for pets (and

owners).

http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/

I used to work part time for a holistic vet. I took my baby with me, in an old

fashioned pram. He usually had a kitten or puppy in the pram. He was brain

injured by a triple vaccine at 6 mths of age. He was very gentle with animals

and still is at age 34. He never had another vaccine. We have had many stray

kittens and cats (they know where the soft mugs live) and have had two dogs -

none were ever vaccinated. DS never " caught " a disease from a cat or dog. He was

safer there than he ever was in hospital!

All the best,

Maracuja

I agree with everyone else. Start thinking about not vaccinating your

new little addition too (cat) because they are suffering from vaccine

damage too (my two cats are proof of this). One is severely obese

and the other suffers from what appears to be ADD!! Your baby will be

fine!!

Same here. It should be just fine. What a wonderful thing you did to give the

animal a home and your child the opportunity to bond with it. When my kids were

babies, they thought cats were the funniest thing--laughed hysterically at them,

but never did that with the dogs.

Just remembered something. The only thing that I can think of from cats is

toxomplasmosis but I believe it's only a danger to unborn babies, or those with

compromised immune systems. But I've always had multiple cats from all manner of

mysterious beginnings, and never had it.

I too have not heard of illnesses that cross species easily...with the exception

of ringworm or maybe parasites if baby ingests feces that have parasites in them

but there are no vaccines for those. We've had cats before and after our kids

have been born and our daughter is not vaxed at all...no problems around either

our cat or or the dog.
