Guest guest
Steve, I hang my hat in the ring with these fellas. These men have forgotten more than I'll ever know. Why ask the peon when you can see what the Cancer Kings have to say? Whatever I venture to say is a half assed xplantion compared to what men like this spent lifetimes figuring out. If you are out of money and can't afford a book because you are bankrupt because the Med community has been robbing you, just tell me, and I will send you one of these books in answer to your question. Also if you are scheduled for a poison treatment later this morning I suppose you could get a warning, " keep away from children " , out of me this beautiful day. Jesus loves you. If you ask Him, He will answer you with the ultimate authority. Can't miss on His answer! Love and Godspeed, Joe Peppe .. Re: ?? > Joe: > > You didn't answer my question. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie My (8 yrs old) has been on 20mg methotrexate since last August and we've had no hair loss. I'm not saying that Alana's isn't mtx-related, but I am suggesting that you explore other possibilities as well. My 17 yr old did have a problem with hair loss just before and during her junior year. She takes no meds. We finally ended up with a great dermatologist and learned that several things were contributing to 's problem. Stress is a big one! We had just moved, my husband was travelling a great deal, 's older sister left for college, academics here are far more challenging than they were in Texas...... I could go on and on. You mentioned that Alana is feling a lot of pressure due to all the missed work. And I'm sure that doesn't help. We also learned that a dry scalp can contribute to hair loss, as can pulling hair back in ponytails. I don't know if any of this will help, but it may at least give you ideas. The dermatologist gave prescription shampoo and some leave-in conditioning drops, and they have helped a great deal. Once things were being treated, started losing less and less hair, and she is fine now. BTW--the doc said to please remember that for a teenage girl, losing hair causes enough stress itself to make the problem worse. I hope you soon find out what is going on with Alana. Guest guest
Thanks, Donna, for asking about . She is home now and trying to get used to her cast. She squirms and cries and fights against her cast from time to time, but I would say she's getting a little bit better each day. All the post-op complications seem to be clearing up nicely. After 8 days, she truly needed to get out of that hospital! Home has been the best medicine for her. We have her in a hospital bed on the first floor of our house and are giving her lots of TLC. She'll be in this cast for a total of six weeks, then back to the hospital to change to another cast for four to six weeks. I think with the next cast she'll be able to bend at the waist so she can sit up instead of being in a semi-reclined position all the time. Everyone at our house hopes the weeks pass quickly! Take care, Maureen
Guest guest
Bless her heart! I keep thinking what it would be like for me to be in a body cast for that long and I think that I would be better able to understand why it was necessary. I certainly am praying that this accomplishes what it is supposed to accomplish. I hope that spring has sprung where you live and that she can at least look out an open window and see some sun. We've tried to take her out for a couple of walks, but she is uncomfortable and insecure in her reclining wheelchair and whines the whole time. Her cast changes on April 19 to one that will allow her to bend at the waist and be able to sit up. I think that will improve things alot. Guest guest
heeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooo all This week has been a trying week. I gained 2 lbs but by today I had lost it plus 2 more. I started working out with weight machines. What is ironic is that I have been doing the water aerobics about 4 times a week but this week was the week i went EVERYday and this week was the week I gained 2 lbs (LOL) oh well... but I know it is because of the muscle versus fat thing...I have worked solidly on the weights and everyday for almost a week and half... although I gained 2 lbs I lost 2 more inches in my waist. SOOOOoo I'm happy bout that ....What matters thou is how I'm Feeling.....and I AM Feeling GR8t!! Today I bought something called knox joint powder that u mix with ur choice of liquid...it has 9grams of protein per scoop and various vitamins also....My JOINTs have been hurting me this week...I did have to come off my vitamins for a week or so....so maybe that has somthing to do with it......or maybe it is the working out daily........BUT i bought this hoping it would help........morning time is worse but by the time i get going my joints feel much better..........ANYONE ELSE have/had this problem? Guest guest
In the past I have had a lot of joint pain and this and other products helped, but they take up to 6-8 weeks to build up in your joints and make a huge difference for most people. Did you try a vioxx or a topical cream in the meantime? Guest guest
This sounds like my Fibromyalgia. It seems like joints, but it is really muscles, and feels worse in the am and better as the day goes on. Of course, arthritis also does this. I don't think it is caused by the MGB. Perhaps you are being more active than before and just get a little " stiff " and you work it off as you begin moving. You will find yourself doing things and using muscles you haven't used in a long time as you begin feeling better and better and sometimes the muscles just get sore from being used differently. This isn't much help, but I did respond. Pat Fwd: Re: ?? Guest guest
I've always had trouble with my joints, arthritis runs in the family, and I've had several bouts with bersitis (sp), so I wouldn't know if the pain I am having recently is something new or something old, only feeling worse because I can no longer take any pain medications to help the symptons.. understand? Good luck on your question. I'm very interested in the joint powder, where did you buy it? Let us know if it helps you.. Trudy ) Fwd: Re: ?? Guest guest
Well a, glad to hear from you too, it's been so long. Yeah, I was actually supposed to be that support person but have become really sick the last couple weeks and am finally starting to get over it. I think her mom is still with her and not sure if she needs my help now, may be too late. Anyway, so glad she is doing better from what I hear now.
