So my question for today is what motivates you the most to stay on your food plan? For me, it is seeing the numbers on the scale go down and seeing my before and now pictures and comparing them. I keep them on my refrigerator to help remind me of how far I have come.

Thats what does it for me too. Knowing and seeing I have lost 20 pounds. Those old size 26 pants always remind me I can do it! Before I lost the weight when I first started, it was pictures. As you said seeing pictures of youself can be a great motivator.

Hi Beth,

I think it has been quiet, 's been sick, I didn't feel to great last week... vacations, etc since summer is upon us, I am sure. Wait, Ann started her new job too. Have we heard from Ann since then? Yooooohoooo Ann: come out, come out whereever you are!! LOL, tell us how it's going!!

For me, what motivates me to stay on plan is knowing I feel so much better than I did 30 lbs ago. I have some "Before" pictures to keep me (ugh) from returning to my old habits. Another is the kudos from my b/f. I just talked with him last night and he keeps telling me he can really see the difference each time he sees me, which is only a handful of times a year (he lives in CA, I live in WA).... that's great. And, he likes to buy me new clothes, so I have incentive to be a few pounds/inches smaller when I do see him so we can shop LOL!!

Hang in there, all kinds of things can affect the scale not moving down every few days... it'll go again!!

A very good motivator ! My dh said when I lose 20 more pounds he will buy me some new clothes. He also said he would take me dancing. Thanks for reminding me of those things. Those are great motivators too!

If it's not too personal a question, how did you and your b/f meet if he's in CA and you are in WA? If it is too personal, just tell me to mind my own business. I won't take offense. I'm just curious.

*shudder* I remember those 26 pants too! Ugh. I don't like them at all. I still have them just to serve as a reminder that I don't ever want to go there again.

That is good motivation!

I had only two pairs of jeans to my name when I started to lose weight. I made a vow I would not go into another store and buy a size 26 pants. I wore the first pair till it had holes all though it(the pair I'm saving as motivation) The other pair I still wear. Although they are big on me and I constantly pull them up. I'm hoping I will never go into a store and buy a size 24 pants ever again too. I want to go to a size 22 before I wear these size 24's out. Right now my number one goal is never....ever in my life buy another size 26. If I ever start to gain weight back where I go up another size I guess I'll be going naked. I'll have one of two choices. 1. Go naked. or 2. Get on a very strick diet and get that weight back off as quickly as possible. Too be honest me wearing my size 26 that is too big is a bit of a help to me. When I pull them up it is a constant reminder that I can do it!

yep, just hang them up and look at them occassionaly. But if you want real motivation. Put them back on and wear them, with a belt if you have too. Every time you pull them up you will get 2 reminders. 1. Good Gracious, Look at how big I was! 2. I lost weight! I can lose more!

And still I am in the same size clothes. They just aren't really tight on me like they used to be.

I agree . I have several pair of shorts that I have used to guage the progress. Most recent is a pair of denim overall/shorts. I can finally squeeze into them, but can't breathe, move, button or zip - YET!! Soon, progressing into them the past 2-3 months!!

Stick With your plan and you will make it into those size 26. I had to lose 20 pounds to fit into a smaller size comfortably. I am surprised you can still wear the same size after 50 pounds. Was you fitting nicely in your clothes 50 pounds ago or was they snug? If they was snug when you started and loose now then maybe its about time for your pant size to change. I was so impatient to get into my smaller size. I didn't think the day would ever get here. Now that it has my newest #1 goal that I want to keep for a lifetime is to never ever buy another size 26 pants. I have said it before and I will say it again. I will go naked before I buy another size 26. If my size 24 starts to get tight on me I had better go a strict exercise and diet plan and get the weight off. My weight loss is going so painfully slow. I can live with that...I might not like it but I can live with it as long as I don't gain back what I've lost. have you tried on one size smaller pants recently? If you have a pair in your closet set them out by your bed and try them on every week or so. Thats' what I did and I went from not getting them past my thighs to getting them on but them no where near buttoning and zipping to me getting them buttoned and zipped while holding my breathe until I turned blue to wearing them standing up then to the final step of having them on and squatting and sitting in them. It sorta gives you a bit of a boost when you can actually see some progress.

Hey ,

Try some second hand places or look to see if there is a FreeCycle group in your area. You might be able to get stuff through that. I've gotten things, given things away through freecycle for over a year now.

When I first started trying to lose the weight, my clothes were really really really tight on me. Now they are a little lose. I have some clothes two sizes down from where I am at now, but nothing (I think) in the next size down. I don't have money to go out and buy new clothes. So I haven't even gone out and tried on new clothes. I think I want to try and lose a little bit more, before I do.

Okay I'll look into that. How would you go about finding out if there is a FreeCycle in my area? Is there a place on line. Someone has probably already said how, but I can't remember. Thanks for the info . Good idea. from MO.Hey , Try some second hand places or look to see if there is a FreeCycle group in your area. You might be able to get stuff through that. Go to the home page and do a search for freecycle and what ever city you live in/near.... some cities are so big they have their own, some are small enough you would need to look in a neighboring area.

I have to tell you, NEVER move in winter. It stinks. Glad they are allowing me to move over slowly. I can't get the keys to keep until March 1, but I will be able to get them on Saturdays to move things in and out.

That's great (lucky for you, too) that they are letting you to borrow the key and start moving things in for the next 5-6 weeks. Every time I have moved, it's been the last chance effort. Moving in, while you have to be moving out of the old place, cleaning, etc at the same time. Always chaos. Glad you have friends to help, too.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well, Terri! Hopefully it

wasn't a nasty stomach virus or anything! Glad to hear that you're back to

normal again. Take care of yourself!

It sounds like you are taking the right steps to get to where you want to be. Sorry to hear about your guide dog. Is this causing any stress for you that might affect your diet?

Hi everyone. I'm still here. I got to get back to trying to lose

weight. I have had to retire my guide dog so things haven't totally been

started yet. I did have a great time visiting family and friends though.

Now I"m back and know that I at least weigh 220. So I'm going to try and

start today. For breakfast I had a fiber 1 bar and a banana. For lunch, I

had a grilled chicken sandwich, and a hash brown patty. Tonight for supper

I had a lamb chop and some frozen cauliflower. I didn't add butter just

cooked it in water and added a little salt for some flavor. I got to taste

frozen veggies a lot while I was in port. I did come back and do my

healthy shopping. I even got some of that Greek yogurt. So that's an

update on me.

Hi Carolyn,It sounds like you pulled it back together. I am so glad that the therapy is working out for you! Maybe you can start playing with your new DVDs soon. We never get any trick or treaters, and I'm really lucky that I never needed to be near candy. That's tough!

Hi Carolyn,

I'm so glad your neck and back are doing better!! And the good news about your sugar binge is that not only is it over, but you've learned more about yourself and your body from it. Those lessons may not necessarily stop you from having another one in the future but it will probably not last as long because you'll know you don't want to feel that awful again. Feeling better physically will help you feel better mentally too so with less physical issues and getting back into a good eating and exercising routine you'll also help keep a binge from starting again. We allllll mess up sometimes but figuring out what's going on and then stopping it is the important thing and you did in a really short amount of time (compared to the people I see all the time, 2 weeks is a REALLY short amount of time). You're moving forward again too, and that's what really matters so YEA CAROLYN!!!
