Guest guest
> > Any thoughts on iron supplements? I know this diet will help and have been on it but not sure if people have taken anything to help anemia? +++Hi . Some people have taken either dessicated liver tablets or eaten more red meat liver to help their anemia. If a person can't stand eating liver they can make frozen liver pills: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/supp3.php There are 2 kinds of iron, and only one is useable by our bodies, which is from meat and eggs, called heme iron. Iron from plants is called non-heme iron, which is in most supplements and it doesn't helped. However, B12 is very important for absorbing and utilizing iron, but some people with digestive problems aren't as able to absorb it. So sometimes all that is required is to improve digestion in order for iron levels to increase. All nutrients work together too, so the oil soluble vitamins are important, etc., etc. It is true that once your body is getting all of the nutrients it requires (diet plus all supplements) it is smart enough to balance out all nutrient levels, even iron, so you wouldn't " have to " take any iron supplements or eat extra liver, but it is important to eat red meats and eggs. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Bee, Thank you so much. I just found a reliable source for grass-fed beef liver. (I've had such a hard time finding liver!) I will continue to eat more read meat. How many times per week would you suggest eating red meat for someone with low iron? Thanks,

Guest guest
iron can feed the virus hence a reason to back off from iron natural sources of iron are of course better than supplements ( too much iron also leads to hemachromatosis ) g g
