Hi :

What was your total WBC?  The percentages of your polys vs lymphs are

important, but more telling as to whether you're in the safe range is the

absolute polymorphonuclear count.  Depending upon the lab, normal polys should

be somewhere between 1500-7000.  You can have a slightly lower poly percent,

but still be in the safe range if your total WBC is higher.

Guys,

I was just looking over my blood work results. I dont know if anyone knows

anything about this or if its candida related, but my POLYS count was 32

(slightly lower than the range) and my LMPHS were 57 (about 10 points higher

than the range cut off)

My dr hadnt even mentioned this to me... I dont know if he thinks its nothing

or what...

wondering if anyone knew anything about this, i know it has to do with white

blood cell counts, so im a little worried now

thanks

At 6.8 WBC and 32% polys, you fall around 2200 absolute neuts.  That's a normal

range.  I'd be more concerned if you fell below 1500. 1500 wouldn't be

terrible, but would show that you're moving into the immune compromised status

(below 1000 would be considered neutropenic, below 500 severely neutropenic, and

below 200 very severely neutropenic and thus susceptible to infections).  But

also keep in mind that that whites (including the differentials) fluctuate

depending upon whether or not your body is fighting something.  For example,

usually with infections the polys go up, but with some conditions (coughs and

flus ) the polys might go down depending upon type of infection.  As it is, I

think you're fine and why the doc didn't mention anything.  However, just keep

an eye on it that you aren't developing a trend where the lymphs continue to

rise and the polys continue to drop.  So far I haven't heard or read any link

to candidiasis.
