Guest guest
Hi Betty... I had a very similar problem about a year ago. It happened twice, and kept me down a few days each time. I took pain medication and muscle relaxers. It hasn't happened since. So, there's hope that this might just be a temporary thing. Whatever it is, I hope you get it resolved soon. Guest guest
Thanks , Did you ever find out what caused it? I would like to know so I don't do it again. Once is enough for me. Lol Betty ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi Betty... I don't really have a clue about what caused it. I suspect it was a combination of things. If what you're going through is the same thing I had, I can totally understand wanting to avoid it. Regards,
Guest guest
Betty, is it possible it is sciatica ? When I worked as a collector years ago it was a sit down job that had NO breaks..I hated that job, lol...anyway I had the most horrible episode of sciatica due to not being able to move from a seated position ..had to go to an emergency room for the pain.Just a thought. Guest guest
Dear Jill, I'm not sure if you've posted more about your situation previously, so it's hard for me to comment specifically. What were your back problems before 2001? Did you have scoliosis or an injury or what? If a doctor operated on you so quickly, it sounds as though it was an emergency situation. I've heard of others who needed emergency surgery to prevent potential paralysis or cauda equina syndrome. It might help you to understand what was done and why if you obtain copies of your written hospital records or at least ask very specific questions of your doctor. I'm sorry you are in such pain and urge you to continue to find answers. A second opinion might be in order, too, if you haven't already gotten one. Has there been any mention of removing the protruding hardware? All this stuff is very complicated to sort through, but please don't give up. Under an emergency situation, one may not have much control over the doctor used, but for the future care of complications such as it sounds like you are having, you need to be seeing a qualified doctor very experienced with the problems you are having. Someone on this group might be able to refer you to a doctor if you tell us your location. Guest guest
Thank you LoriAnn..No it wasn't an emergency situation..I was in the hopsital for testing of an anyersym and they just happened to see my scoliosis when they did the MRI for that..I was having pain and jumped at the chance to have any type of relief but at no time did this dr. explain what he was going to do..What upset me most was that he did not expalin what he was going to do and that I should have donated my own blood ahead of time..Had to have several transfusions and they told my husband at one point it was touch and go because they couldn't wake me up..I would have preferred using my own blood..I don't evven know what type of rods he inserted..Yes, they have talked about taking out the rods so instead of "jumping" into it I have decided to get a second opinion with a Dr. Ford in Toronto, Ontario.A little leary of having surgery again after having so many problems..Thank you so much for your input...Jillloriann262000 <lcmelko@...> wrote: Dear Jill,I'm not sure if you've posted more about your situation previously, so it's hard for me to comment specifically. What were your back problems before 2001? Guest guest
Oh boy, Jill, that does sound weird. I'd definitely try to get written copies of the your hospital records. I don't know anything about specific Canadian doctors, but if you do a search for " Canada " " Canadian " " Toronto " or " rod removal " on this site, you may find some posts that could prove helpful to you. Also, Dr. Ford has been mentioned here a couple of times. If you search for " Ford Toronto " and keep hitting " search more " , you can find all those posts, too. Good luck! loriann Dear Jill, > > I'm not sure if you've posted more about your situation previously, > so it's hard for me to comment specifically. > > What were your back problems before 2001? Guest guest
It means that the drug decays to half its potency in this period of time. Most anti-depressents have a half-life of 5 to 52 hours except for prozak, which has a half-life of 7 to 9 days. (some of the substances in Prozak) In order to keep a constant level you would not want the drug to totally decay. That is why some drugs are taken once a day, others twice or 3x a day. Guest guest
Some of the substances in prozak have a very long half-life. It's probably not a great choice for someone with dimished liver or kidney function, but that's just my opinion. On another note, I have read a few studies that have shown where the thereputic advantage of 10mg vs. 20 mg. of Lex was not particularly encouraging. The side effects of 20 vs. 10 Mg were however quite different. Outside of some sexual side effects, the side effects of 10 mg of Lex were quite similar to a placebo. Upping the dose to 20 Mg however, increased some side effects by 86%. So if it were me and 10 mg of Lex were not working, I would change my med as opposed to upping it. Let me stress that this is my opionion only, and I am not a medical person. Vickie McColley <uhavejustbeenblessed@...> wrote: that was a typo.....for Prozac? I used them for 9 cycles while trying to conceive my 4th(and last ( ). There are people on there who know a lot and are great for support and questions. Good Luck! I have recently returned to a former employer to work since I'm no longer at Walmart where I had BCBS of Illonois insurance. At where I'm at now, they have United Healthcare for their health insurance provider. I went to their website and I didn't find no information on whether if they cover CIs or not. Has anyone gotten a CI while having United Healthcare for insurace? If so, has anyone been denied and went through the appeals fight? Let me know because I wouldn't want to wait to much longer to get my CI since I was declared a candidate back in April. Have a great evening! A.
