Sorry you didn't get a reply. Unfortunately, that's all too common on these

lists!

But good for you for looking for help for yourself. That's the hardest,

first step. A thought or two: try to stay open to other meds than just Lex.

There are lots of them out there and though Lex may be right for you, it may

be that another med is better. Sometimes it takes trial and error to find

the right " fit. "

Good luck,

Thanks ,

I have tried some other meds. Three, to be exact. The first one

caused a really crazy side effect and I had to stop taking it (lost

5 pounds the three weeks I was on it); the second one worked great,

but I gained about 40 pounds in the two years I was on it. I got to

the point where that bothered me more than the depression/anxiety;

the last one I took was Celexa. I was probably on Celexa for a

couple of years. It worked OK, but I was beginning to feel the

depression even while I was on it. I probably should have talked to

my Dr. but I decided to wean myself off of it and try going without

it. I also think I need something that works to help the anxiety

and I didn't think the Celexa did that for me. From what I have

read, Lexapro helps with the anxiety. I am a little worried about

the weight gain thing. I have had a really difficult time getting

rid of the 40 pounds I gained earlier.

I know I have to do something, and plan to call my Dr. tomorrow and

schedule an appointment. I am ready to get this back under

control. As I said, it helped me to read the previous messages

here, and to realize that I am not going through this alone.

Thanks for your reply,

Pam

i'm new here too....my name is tish and i live in nj...i have had a battle with

depression for as long as i can remember and also have a problem with sever

anxiety.

i recently went off of effexor onto lexapro and am happy for it...i would not

like to do that again...

having been on celexa for a long time, i sort of was prepared for the side

effect of weight gain but not so quickly...and the vivid dreams are difficult

but at least not as violent as with the effexor...

peace,

Welcome...I just moved and have now just gotten to my emails. Yes, keep the

doctors

appointment and see what he/she has to say. From my past experience I was

upfront with my

new psychiatrist about my previous history expecialy that with medication as

I do not tolerate

SSRI's-that is just my brain chemistry, not to say your brain chemistry is

like mine. I suffere from severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). There

are individual differences. Just talk it over with your doctor.

IMPORTANT----HOWEVER everyone is different on how they tolerate ANY

MEDICATION. And I mean any medication, I know some that cannot tolerate

Tylenol PM! This is not to scare you and that you should not try the

medication.

Since I am ultra sensitive to the SSRI's I am on Lexapro liquid 2mg every 3

days so that I can try tolerate it. In the past I did well on another SSRI,

however I stopped it without telling my doctor, now I can't get back on

them. My advice, NEVER DO THIS. This might be why I can't get back on

them..we don't know the exact nature of the " WHY " . So were are going very

slowly with the liquid form. Since I have severe OCD and we are hoping that

the Lexapro in the liquid form is going to help along with therapy with my

OCD therapist. I also know of others that are in the same situation as

myself had to do the dame thing, and they are now tolerating SSRI's!!!!

So I am giving it everything that I got to get better with my disorder. If

I can do this anyone can.

My brain chemistry is very differnt from others, but from what I hear the

lexapro it has the least amount of side effects. I have been hearing

wonderful things about the medication and most of all the group here is

fantastic! Hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

Wishing you all the best and stay in contact with the group!

Welcome to the group !

Your perfumes sounds realy delicious!

I usually add the essences to the alcohol as I go. It's hard to smell

how the fragrance is going to smel like when it is in the original

concentration. I blend it directly into 200 proof alcohol or into

jojoba oil.

If you mix alcohol, essensial oils and water the mixture will cloud

(unless it's just a few drops of water, which should be either

purified water or a hydrosol). I can't remember the ratio, because I

don't usually add water to my perfumes.

There are some materials that can be used as fixatives, but so far I

have been happy with the logevity of my perufmes (in the bottle they

last for years, and on the skin for a whole day), so I have'nt

seriously looked at adding anything else.

Assuming you want an alcohol-based perfume, you mix it with alcohol,

of the strongest proof you can find. 190 proof Everclear works fine;

150 proof will sorta work, but the mixture may get cloudy. Some places

have a 190 proof vodka that will work as well as the Everclear, and if

you're really serious, you can get 190 proof grape alcohol

specifically intended for perfumery.

Vanilla and patchouli will both act as fixatives, to some extent; some

people suggest adding a small amount of glycerine for that purpose

also. Note that allowing your blend to age for a period of weeks or

months will improve the fixative effects, and it may also change the

scent somewhat; some notes may become more or less prominent, and the

perfume will generally smell smoother and more cohesive, less like a

bunch of separate things mixed together. Give it a shake occasionally,

but time seems to be the most important thing.

Welcome

I'm new here...

Hello all!

I'm new to the LifeLift method (got my first videos this week) & have a

few questions that perhaps some of the long-time members could answer

for me. I am basically a " blend into the woodwork " kind of person, but

you all seem to be so friendly & supportive of one another, I had to

jump in with this post.

Question 1...do any of you have Type 2 diabetes, & if so, what is your

experience with how do the exercises affect your blood sugar levels?

Question 2...I asked Rashelle if she has a " cheat sheet " detailing the

various LifeLift exercises by body position, & although she said time

has prevented her from getting a visual chart printed, some of you may

have created your own. If so, would you be willing to share a copy of

yours with me? The drawings aren't really important, just a detailed

description of each exercise would do, broken into the categories of

stand, sit or lie down.

Question 3...do any of you do shiftwork & how do you work the Lifelift

exercises into your schedule? I work 11pm-7:30am & would appreciate any

info on how you do your breaths.

Thanks in advance for your attention,

What can changing the way you breathe do for you? Everything!

See why tens of thousands agree, Life Lift is the best!

Hi,

Ive taken Celexa 40mg and Lex 10mg together.

I know some take wellbutrin (gives a little energy boost) and lex

together. I currently take 20mg of lexapro but I also take ADHD meds

strattera and ritalin. Why do you want to combine it with something

else? If you are having anxiety u might want to try a benzo such as

klonopin or lorazepam. if depression is increasing, increase the dose

or try something different.HOpe thats helpful

Hello,

I'm new here.I'm a 34 year old woman recently diagnosed with Candida.

I saw my family dr. recently and he told me to stay away from sugar most of the

time (which i'm trying to do),but said i do not need to follow the diet that is

in the Yeast Connection And Women's Health book

Also he prescribed one tablet of fluconazole. In my opinion he wasn't

very helpful. What do you think? Yesterday I made an appointment (which is around

the end of November with a doctor who deals with holistic

medicine).Should I keep this appointment or try to find some " mainstream " dr.

before that? Is it urgent that I get my treatment for

Candida right away? Do you think it would be a good idea to start the diet right

away or wait until i see a dr.?

Thank you for listening,

Amelita

I tried two regular doctors and they didn't believe me about the possibility of

having Candida. I'm actually impressed that your family doctor checked it out

and is trying to help you with it.

I did go to an alternative medicine doc and he also gave me fluconzale and told

me to stay away from sugars, breads and dairy. Of course I didn't do it like he

said and I felt only a little better after taking the fluconzole.

He also had me take VSL #3 (strong) probiotic and I did notably feel better with

that.

Later I went back to him and instead of the flucozonale, he recommended a

special diet (mostly because I wanted to lose weight-HCG diet) and it also

incidentally eliminated sugar, bread, pastas, dairy for a period period of time.

I noticed that I did feel better while off of the sugar/breads so you may want

to go ahead and try what your doctor recommended if you want to feel better

sooner rather than later.

I think I did read somewhere that you have to be careful with eliminating sugars

and taking the diflurcan if you are prone to low blood sugar - it has

precautions on the box insert.

I have a panel of doctors that I go to. Each one has different insight into my

issues and treatments. It couldn't hurt to get a second opinion. Ultimately, I

take their advice with a grain of salt and experiment with their suggestions to

see what works best for me.
