Guest guest
I've read that humans should eat a paleolithic diet, and all " modern " foods should be eliminated eg. foods such as grains and tubers. I live in Australia and such a comment makes me scratch my head in confusion. Australian Aboriginal people were hunter gathers until 220 years ago (pretty recent in evolutionary time). Australia is a huge country, but depending on where they lived, Aboriginal people ate: * Fruit * Nuts * Roots, tubers, corms & bulbs * Seeds & damper (with grindstones dated to 15,000+ years ago) * Green vegetables * Honey, gum & nectar * Land animals (gamey and low in fats) * Marine animals and fish * Insects & grubs Women provided 80% of the food in a community (and except for eggs, fish, reptiles & small mammals, the diet was largely one of vegetable matter). source: Bush Food, Issacs, 1991 Ure Press more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushfood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_Australian_food_groups I am not a dietitian or nutritionist. Can someone please illuminate for me how a high protein, high fat diet is a paleolithic diet? Many thanks, Tys.
