When I lived in St. Pete and raced at Tampa Bay Downs, there was a saying

that no old people live in St. Pete...the old folks live in Miami and their

grandparents live in St. Pete <g>

I worked with thoroughbred race horses for 13 years...I was a groom and

traveled the circuit: Kentucky in the spring, usually New Jersey (Momouth

Park) in the summer and either Florida or California in the winter. I was

young then and able to lift those 100# sacks of oats and bales of straw and

hay...but my back eventually gave out on me and I got tired of being on the

road all the time so I left the track and went to college to build a

different life.

Went to college and majored in office management and did that for a long

time, then switched track again and got certified in Novell network

administration and computer repair until I was diagnosed and I went back

to office work so I didn't have the high stress and long hours that come

with working in technology.

How's that for a lifetime of changes <g>

I've heard that one before......the rest of it is that the send their kids to

Florida Southern in Lakeland. I think that was added because there were so

many middle aged students enrolled there. What were you racing?

Okay that answers that question. That must have been a lot of fun. I

understand about the back.

Willem, this is so nice of you. Tatezi says she can make it on her own

with the kitties as long as she's getting unemployment.....but Tat, if

you need money for the cats, please do say something....I don't want to

see you lose those cats and I see a lot of people care too. Thanks to

you all. Tatezi, we are only an email away, don't forget that!!

Thanks, Carol. And I would never lose my guys...no matter what happens,

they stay with me. They are my family and you don't give your family

away during hard times. And I finally got my stereo sold yesterday so my

Tipper can get into the vet...he has a couple lumps that need looking

into and since odds are they will require removal, I sold my stereo so I

could pay for the surgery.

Hi Gail welcome to the group. So if I read your post right you never

had the surgery you needed because you lost you insurance and are

waiting on medicare so you can get it done??? It just doesn't seem

fair when we do our best at our jobs for years then when people have

trouble empoloyers are quick to let people go rather than stick by

then and help them out awhile. So unfair and I won't even go into our

health system cause thats too long a post. But you will find many

other people like yourself in this group. People who have lost their

jobs due to back or neck pain. People who suffer daily with pain and

we all seem to struggle to get thru the worst days. But thats partly

what this group is here for. Because others here do understand what

you go thru and on those bad days and sometimes it helps to vent or

post a note here and talk it out with others in the group. Again

welcome to the group, there is not list of rules here but normal

politeness to people here as anywhere else. Sharon Group Owner

I sent an earlier e-mail with the wrong Subject, by mistake. Sorry.

Another subject: I told you I'd received an " intruder " e-mail. I can't find

it now. I know I didn't imagine it. It may have been an " approval needed "

message, rather than someone posting as a member. That sounds logical. At any

rate, it seems to have done no harm. Power went out here just after I received

the message, which left me unable to follow up thoroughly immediately.

One thing I realized is that I don't know how to get into the site as a

moderator. Maybe I'm not supposed to have access now, maybe I just have the code

wrong. I don't care whether I have access; it's one less responsibility if I

don't. But, I need to know how to get in if I have that responsibility.

The rain has stopped here; we got four inches in two days, with high winds

off the ocean. I loved it. No damage was done, just lots of drama and good

smells. Now, the air is very clear, and plants are perking up after the long,

rainless summer we always have here. Hillsides will turn brilliant green in the

next couple of weeks.

I mean to send that message about inulin directly to the person who is about to

take it. But, truthfully, I get nervous when people go out and buy it after my

own horrible experience.
