Guest guest
Joanne ... Glad to see that you are back and on the road to feeling so much better... I have been pretty much missing here for awhile due to an old computer giving up ...and then just getting caught up has taken awhile.... it was a surprise when I saw that you got your tx...but of course very happy for you...and family... welcome back.. LuanneTy's mom [ ] I am back Hello to everyone. I have had the most wonderful gift ever. I am so happy I got my liver just in time. As I was so very ill before my Tx it is taking longer then is normal to recover. They told me it may take a year and a half. But, that's ok....i effl better now then I have in a long time. But, now, as my hands hurt I can't be line much. I go on my 'puter every few days for a little bit to read the PBC Digest and my own LiverSupport_L Digest and always the Spiritual Side. You have been so terrific to me...thank you so much. All those cards...love them..I can't wait for the mail every day. My family, bless them, have been a tower of strength to me. My husband took over the entire care of me...he even slept in the hospital (gave him a bed). The Tx went smooth and wasn't long. She also removed my gallbladder. M. Reid....where are you.same as Janice. write me I do not have your addy..lost all addys. I tried to call Jerry but there was no answer. So hopefully he is just having fun. Love to all, Joanne
Guest guest
Sharon, So glad you made it home ok - I know how rough this time is for you. I have thought about you and your family. I'll be down (I think) June 30th..our reservations run Thursday through Wednesday. I have to take to the airport in ton on the 5th and will probably spend most of the day there. Let me know what your work schedule is like. If you want to see the fireworks from the beach, come on over! I am back > Hi everyone- > > I arrived home from Alabama late last night. Guest guest
--- Hi I coincidentally feel exactly like you do and weaned off the meds at the same exact time u did as well! Each time I weaned off of the meds i feltl ike it got harder to adjust to the semi- withdrawal symptoms. I am now back on it b/c i was so stressed out and i feel weird, like scared sometime b/c i feel numb or jsut dont remember things as much sometimes. I am hopeful that i will get thru this though, and i feel like maybe it is the holiday season also that cud cause these things. Let me know if u feel any better, i have days i feel great and others that feel helpless.
Guest guest
My daughter is on lexapro and I want her to get off. My pharmacist (Peoples) who is also a nutritionist said the easiest way to get off was to start taking 5htp(tryptophan) at night a week before she starts aand as you wean off the lexapro keep taking the tryptophan. It helps YOU produce your own seratonin, sleep well and helps with depression. I took it in the 80's and I loved it. Then PROZAC made it's debut, came along and all the drug companies needed to make alot of money so they made tryptophan(which was inexpensive)a prescription not over the counter. 5htp is actually a step up from tryptophan and easier to get into the system.... so those GREEDY drug companies helped make a better natural anti-depressent and sleep aid. I have some info on this if anyone needs it. Debbie
Guest guest
So glad that you are able to get back online - I find the posts to be so helpful that I don't know what I would do if I couldn't read them every few days. Good luck with trying to drop a few pounds - been there and it is not easy but it can be done. It could make a big difference to how you feel and your liver functions. Guest guest
I had a hard time deciding but I think I am going to try Weight Watchers (Flex plan). I was on WW before and lost weight only to gain it back during chemo. I decided on the WW flex plan because I saw a nutritionist in the hospital who said I should follow an 1800 calorie diet. With flex points, I can keep better track of that. We will see S --- Jase4567@... wrote: > Welcome back. My dad's told him *not* to go on any diets, not to lose weight, that if he *did* he was to report back immediately. Going on a healthy food and exercise plan for health and fitness is another thing, so when you *do* start to lose weight, be sure to let your doc know that this is happening on purpose. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am over 300 and they (I have 2 oncologists and my PCP Lol) said that I can go on a healthy food and diet regimen. None of them have told me to do it, but I have asked all 3 and they are ok with it. It may take months for me to get the energy back that I had pre-surgery and treatment, but I can still walk and use the exercise bike. It is odd. Before all of this happened, I would push myself and then be wiped out for days because of overdoing it. Now, I can become exhausted just when walking and I have learned to realize what is happening and stop myself before I overdo it. There were steroids in my treatment every 3 weeks, so I gained almost 25 pounds because of it. Lucky me. Most people LOSE weight during chemo! Hmph! I was amazed at how much my dad's oncologist ruled his life after a while. Then again, he had like 5 different bouts of cancer, including both lungs 6 years apart, and was very stubborn and needed to be told what to do by someone other than his wife. > There were steroids in my treatment every 3 > weeks, so I gained almost 25 pounds because of > it. Lucky me. Most people LOSE weight during > chemo! Hmph! My dad never lost weight the whole 15 years he had his cancers until the last 2 weeks. Well, once he did as a side effect of one of the new meds he was on, but as soon as that stopped he gained it right back. And he was never on steroids - it was all good food that kept him at a healthy weight. Why couldn't I have inherited *that* from him instead of his father's asthma and the round shape from his mother's side? Guest guest
Hi Carol, I am having my surgery done by Dr. Dryer and Dr. Errico at NYU. I have a lot of faith... It's a 10-12 hour surgery but I am little less nervous and much more comfortable with the doctors. The hospital is 2 1/2 hours away from where I live in NY, but there is no one closer. Thankfully I have relatives in Staten Island, I do not like being alone when I am away from home (I'm still a big baby at 30... Good luck in your search and whatever comes. > > > > > > , > > > > > > Congratulations, and welcome back. Guest guest
That's a big fish That stinks that you have been sick. I would start off slowly, b/c your body has really been through a lot and I wouldn't want to push it too hard. If you already paid for the gym, you really should go! But if you KNOW you're not going to, then getting a bike and riding inside and doing weights at home is the next best thing. I'm working out from home - it's not always ideal, but I keep the weights right next to the tv, so when I want to just plop in front of it and do nothing, I see them and feel motivated. Guest guest
Where the heck are you that it is that cold in May!!?? Anyway, I would never recommend pouring warm water over a frozen windsheild. Do you not have a defroster? Your work-arounds sound pretty good, but you will quickly want more resistance than the bands, I would think. At this point, though, doing something is much better than doning nothing. Malaria is one of those illnesses that leaves you really weak, from the anemia. It is not surprising that your system is still catching up and you feel lethargic. Be kind to yourself as you get back on track.
