Guest guest
Hi ; in my view the lactic acid is better brought down by increasing glutathione. The Austrian Olympic rowing team, a bunch of cycling teams etc. use undenatured whey. In peer-reviewed research the whey produced a measured 13% more work during a strenuous workout. I suggested that method to two clients who are athletes; both subsequently used undenatured whey and selenium, and both did their best times EVER in their respective events the following week. Not bad for people in their mid 40's, and whey is already approved by Big Sports. One can't go by what legal fad some athletes will attempt in hopes of winning the gold. They aren't doctors. Two of my mentor-doctors who are the M.D.s for the triathlon in Penticton BC said outright that the athletes they treat, and sometimes have to revive and keep alive, are among the most unhealthy people they have ever seen. Categorically, they are over-oxidized and undernourished, and they should be using " bucketsful " of antioxidants (their words) to ameliorate carb loading as well as the free radical outcome of strenuous work. I can't get behind oral bicarb because it is not good for you despite any perceived and temporary benefit. It creates an acidic environment to add to the extra CO2 the athletes are already trying to purge. all good, Duncan > > Duncan, what I meant are bicarbonates are essential to the body...it is certainly not essential to supplement. There are so many things people are supplementing with that would not be necessary if their bodies were fully functioning and their intestinal flora in balance. > > I'm sure you have heard of " soda doping " that athletes are doing? Taking baking soda (in water) before heavy excercise. Increases their performance and buffers the build up of lactic acid. Apparently it works so well, it may be banned in the future. > > What's your opinion on this? > > >
