The reimbursements from Medicare to doctors are laughably low, and most doctors simply cannot afford to run what turns into charity wards. I agree that it sucks, but that's reality (I blame the Medicare program, not the doctors). And around here, doctors are very upfront in having their receptionists ask a new patient applying for an appointment which insurance plan they have. Maybe there's a law that says that once they have seen you as a patient, they can't stop seeing you just because you have Medicare. I don't know. But there's certainly nothing preventing them from seeing you in the first place. Most doctors around here are closed to new patients, having an already overfilled schedule, so when they do have openings for a few new people, they can afford to be picky :@< -- el - andrea@... I may have eaten that one " spoonful " too much of jello or something, then, instead of letting it come back up, forced myself to keep it down. Possibility? Not real sure. My favorite guess is my stomach finally woke up and realized it had been traumatized and decided to fight back. It won. lol Anyway, after a night of suffering and nothing working, everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) I had tried to injest in the previous 24 hours came back to visit, the stomach gave all of it the old heave-ho. That settled things down the rest of the night, but Dee talked with Dr. K. and the put me on a prescription of Reglan 4X/day. Haven't had any real problems since, so I think it was something stupid that I did that set these off. Sorry I can't be of much more help. Guest guest
Jerry.....this may sound a silly question but since your AIH dx, have you had another biopsy to see whether its progressed, improved, the same? I know you have cancer but if you didnt whats the state of your liver? Im interested because I am (or used to be) the worlds biggest optimist but my bx was the same as yours but with the words extensive necrosis. Some days I really feel Im dying but as Im still here obviously Im being too melodramatic. My hep spec has no intention of doing another bx on me....lfts normalish like yours & have been for a year now. Im not worried at all, Ive been thru the grief yonks ago, but I suppose Im curious. Guest guest
Jan....no ....my enzymes went down almost immediately..... I hadn't seen that Dx for almost 3 yrs. and when I saw it last night I was suprized as I was beginning to think I was misdiagnosed but the Dx was definitive...they wee looking for rejection but said it definitely wasn't rejection.....i've always felt a little guilty here because everyone else seems so much sicker than I.... like you....I.just didn't/don't worry about it I don't worry about my cancer either ....I aked the oncologist if he might have been mistaken but he said no...besides I had 2 identical Dxs on it...so.... lately I've been having headaches and sharp pain in my ears? I guess I'll go to my PCP but I think it may be related to a couple of back teeth I lost recently and I can't afford a dentist....I'll live til it's my time to go..... love jerry
Guest guest
Jerry, I feel the same way, I am miserable but it has nothing to do with my AIH. It's the rejection thing. All the problems people talk about on this board I can relate to because I had AIH for many years (DX in 1980) prior to transplant (1998). Prograf keeps the immune system in check, I haven't even needed prednisone or any other drug in 5 years, although of course I've had cancer and a fractured vertebrae, and a stroke, etc. but not any of the AIH symptoms. As for you living til it's your time to go--- I like Carole's 'still dancing on this side of the dirt' Patty Re: [ ] Jerry Jan....no ....my enzymes went down almost immediately..... Guest guest
Thanks Jerry....actually I say poo (or is it phooey) to it all, but not in my ladies circle, ...I think other things will get me in the end. Pain in the ears? well Ive got a bad tooth right at the back....munched on too many sticky toffees, and do you know what the pain shoots up into my ear as well, especially after drinking anything cold or too hot. Guest guest
Patty, I also like Carole's perspective. My boss recently celebrated her 50th birthday (I am only a couple of years behind) and was lamenting over getting older. I told her that I used to dread birthdays, now I intend to celebrate every one...the alternative stinks! nne > Jerry, > I feel the same way, I am miserable but it has nothing to do with my AIH. > It's the rejection thing. Guest guest
Dear Jerry, You are now telling your age, if you can remember a wringer washing machine. However, I must admit that I remember seeing and old unused one in the garage at my Grandmothers house. So guess what. I think I just told my age too. What the heck. Who cares?? I used to get upset about birthdays and would never tell my age. Hey these days I'm just happy to see another one. Age is in you mind, However today I think its in my tired aching feet. Have a nice night.
