As a matter of fact, many of the baby washes do. I have always used Dove for all my children. It has moisturizer in it and is what my pediatrician recommended, which we all still use, after 13 years! Guest guest
what type of washng powder do you use??? I used to get a reaction when my mum used too much powder int he wash...somehow the powder stays in the clothes. Maybe you can wash his clothes seperatley and use LUX flakes in his wash, or a liquid..... Or maybe you could use a soap substutute, like Soroelene cream, ao maybe even use an oatmeal bath thing in his bath...there are heaps of soap alternatives out there....I use the Sorb cream in the winter,,,,just slap it on, rub over skin and then wash off......just do privates in " proper " soap. Sorry I can't be more help... Briggs wrote: > Last year I asked the list's advice about something for Isaac's very red, > dry cheeks and since then, we've been using Aquaphor. Guest guest
has this problem with her lips. They can get so bad they bleed! I have found nothing better than Vaseline for her condition. Tried all sorts of stuff, but Vaseline works best. She keeps her lips lathered in the stuff. s a little tube of it in her purse. Guest guest
I heard something the other day about bubble bath as well.I checked both the tigger bottle and Mr. Bubble bottle when I got home and sure enough it has a warning on it that continued use may cause urinary tract infections! I was floored. I had no idea. Does anyone know if this is with most bubble baths? I usually use an Avon moisturizing one on but if this is true of all I won't order any more. I will just continue to use the Eucerine cream that works great for him after his bath. Guest guest
also has dry skin and gets red patches on his arms and legs. I put Aquaphor on those spots right after bath. Also, during the winter you can put baby oil in the bath tub when bathing. When the kids get out of the bath they get a film of oil on their moist skin which really helps. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL...it makes the bathtub slippery. Also, we alway put on Aquaphor or moisturizer right after bath while the skin is still moist. Guest guest
Another thing that is great for any kind of small sore place, paper cuts, splits beside nails anything like that is chapstick, any brand. You have to reapply it but it works great. I discovered this when I fell and split may lip. As it was healing it kept feeling something was crawling a round in it and I carried a chapstick in my pocket. One day I had a paper cut, used it on that and voila! Guest guest
Jake, Instead of foregoing a shower, and spending big bucks on lotion...do you have a COSTCO nearby? I get AVEENO there. They have a package deal there. You get 2 big bottles and one smaller tube of lotion for $12.00. That I can afford! LeighAnn
Guest guest
Jay, I know what you mean! I actually had a doctor tell me that in the winter, not to shower every day because I am so prone to eczema. So I do the every-other-day routine like you do, and it does help. Another thing I found, which goes along with what you said about putting lotion on while you are still wet, is to use Walgreen's TheraBath bath oil with vitamin E. When I'm done showering, I squeeze it onto a wet washcloth and rub down with it before I towel off. It works pretty good, and then I hit the " hot spots " with Gold Bond cream. Marilyn (aka Scratchy) Dry skin Hi folks, I have discovered that the best way to combat the dry skin syndrome is to not bathe as much! I used to shower everyday, but now only bathe every other day and sometimes skip two days. What I do is just bathe using a wash clothe (bird bath) on those days I don't shower. (Fortunately, I have a desk job and don't work up a sweat.) You should shower with lukewarm water or as cool as you can stand it and make it quick. Pat yourself dry, don't rub the towel on your body. And immediately put lotion on before your body is completely dry. The Aveeno is good and there are some other good lotions out there but boy are they expensive! jay (aka Itchy)
Guest guest
Marilyn and others, I guess yer another Simpsons fan, ie Itchy and Scratchy! Thanks for the tip about Therabath. I've tried a number of the cheaper lotions and they don't seem to help. Recently switched to Aveeno, but I think the showering less really helps. Sometimes otc Bendryl seems to help, but the dr. finally prescribed some kinda of pill that really helped a subsequent rash I got. Over my chest, shoulders, thighs, and buttocks! Geez! Still have open little sores on my chest. Man! After I am done with this treatment, I'll NEVER complain about physical ailments again. peace, jay Take care, peace, jay
Guest guest
Dear Lyn and Carole, If your skin is looking like very old skin, sometimes you need a hydrocortisone cream. The presciption ones work best. I thought I had psorisiss(sp????) and it turned out to be part of the lupus flare I was having. Be sure to use unscented lotions - Aveeno works pretty well, because the scents can also irritate. Of course in this weather, since it's impossible to totally avoid the sun, my skin is suffering, too. I have an appt.l with the rhuemy on Tues. Carole, stay out of the sun!!!!!!!! Guest guest
This happened to me a few times and I haven't had the surgery yet. It was because I tried some new things on my face and I was allergic to them. My skin is not very sensitive, so it doesn't happen much. Is it possible there is something in the cleanser or lotions that could be breaking you out?
Guest guest
I make my own lotion that contains, hemp, shea butter, avacado oil, vitamin E and my skin is doing great. I use it unscented on my face and scented for my body. I tan as well so I put lotion on twice a day to keep my skin in good shape. I also use Oil of Olay for my face too and like it. G Dr. H 1/4/05 202/142/??? dry skin Hey all, so my face started breaking out... which I figured was a side effect of my surgery and a result of the loss of hormones or something right? so I started using a cleanser and some topical meds my skin doctor had recommended. Now, my skin on my face is like flaking off and it hurt to put lotion or make up on. I decided today to stop the cleanser and face stuff because it just gets more painful and dry looking each day. So has anyone else had this problem with dry flaky skin? Or anyone know a good lotion that won't burn when I put it on? I have tried the neutrogena kind right now, but it still burns over the areas where my skin is flaky. So any input would be welcome! Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi, my skin has been dry for a while and after the MGB, when I cut all oils out of my food or at least no added ones that I know about...no salad dressing, mayo, butter etc...I started to take the OneSource Hair, skin, nails and also Borage, fish and flax oil that I get at Wal-mart. Hope this helps. Guest guest
For years I have used a prescription lotion on my face called Nutracort. It has 1% Hydrocortosone. If I don't use it once a day I get flakiness on my face and my eyelids. Good luck! Guest guest
I was going to suggest more water but if you are drinking 64 that probably isn't it (although you CAN have more,it wouldn't hurt). Have you changed soaps? Have you been inside under forced heated air? (I know I am here in Texas where the temp is 23 this morning!). One thing I have done that helps me is take a bottle of baby oil into the shower. After the shower, but while you are still standing in the shower wet, put baby oil on everywhere. Then towel dry. Doing it this way, you are not greasy, but it does wonders to the skin. M 280/178/155 -102lbs gone for good! Guest guest
Hi Barb, What do you use instead of fabric softener? I've been using the Neutrogena Sesame oil, but that hasn't been working, obviously. Baby oil is definitely cheaper. I guess we get taken in by all those ads promising us soft, silky skin... You didn't butt in, I appreciate any and all help I can get. Thank you so much Jeannie [PainInTheNeck- Back] Re: weight Hi Jeannie have you ever tried celebrex? I have taken it for a long time and it really helps my joints feel better. I also take MSN & gluscosimin. It does take awhile for it to work so don't expect it too in just a week or so. I've had my show horse on it for years or his joints used to pop something awful ugg and I have two of my geldings at home on it cause they both have had leg injuries. With it they all sure do better. But I know it helps me is why I take it I can tell when I skip taking that or my celebrex cause I feel so stiff in my joints. As for your skin have you tried a humidifier?? ?? Seems like different kinds of lotions work better for different people but the main trick is to keep slathering it on. Especially right after you are wet cause your pores are open and soak it up more. And be sure and use a moisterizing soap or waah as soap dries out your skin. And as for keeping warm up north next winter or maybe just now not sure how cold it has been there, I'd order a set of silk longjohns You'll LOVE THEm I promise and they will keep you super duper warm when its cold. Hope some of this helps.
