, half the people over 60 have hypochlorhydria, or not enough stomach

acid, a condition that stimulates a natural vomit response the doctors

conveniently call a treatable " disease " called GERD.

Free amino acids require adequate acidity for absorption. The digestion of food,

and cure of the reflux, both also require higher stomach acidity. (regardless of

the M.D.s approach to lower acidity)

Normally, when one is taking HCl or other acids to combat GERD, there will be

enough acidity to start assimilating your food, probably including the free

amino acids.

Some people mix the aminos with OJ to help absorption or just to get it down.

Others eat the capsules without washing them down at all, hoping that there's

enough acidity in the stomach.

Main thing is to analyse the GERD and see if your esophageal sphincter is

sealing OK, and if it is, treating your hypochlorhydria is what should be

occurring, not making the GERD worse by using antacids. You are avoiding acids

and acid creation at your peril; this is not a recipe for long-term wellness and

I encourage you to thoroughly investigate what your doctor is doing to your

body.

all good,

> Duncan, it seems you are saying taking the amino acids with just water is not

adequate. Since I have to respect my gerd issues, and avoid citrus juices can

you suggest another one.Thanks Doug
