Lactoferrin is a formidable anti-fungal and anti-pathogenic substance that

stimulates your immune system to fight intracellular pathogens. It is available

in capsules from different labs. I use Jarrow Formulas from Vitamin Shoppe.

I am in love with Lactoferrin, specially Apo- Lactoferrin. I have a collection

of Medical Abstracts claiming the benefits of this supplement. Lactoferrin has

synergistic effects against candida when mixed with the Azoles. Lactoferrin is

effective against resistant candida strains. Lactoferrin is a powerful immune

booster helping you to be toward Cell-mediated immunity. Lactoferrin gives you

energy and helps the liver integrity. Lactoferrin reduce unhealthy bacterias and

favor the friendly species. Lactoferrin is antiviral and gives you energy.

Lactoferrin doesn't have known unwanted side effects.

One very important item to consider is the source of your colostrum. I used to

buy American colostrum for my clients, which is very inexpensive, until I found

out the difference in quality.

American colostrum is high heat processed and from diary herds that are in

confinement industrial dairy operations and are extremely lacking in vital

nourishment capabilities.

Now I only use and recommend colostrum from New Zealand from grass-fed herds and

the process is a low or no heat process of packaging. The down side is the cost,

the up side is the available nourishment value.

Pound for pound verses the nutritional value is to my surprise the New Zealand

colostrum is your better value from not only the financial aspect but the

healing properties are far superior.

The IgA, Lactoferrin and Lactoperoxidase are virtually unavailable in the very

small amounts contained in American colostrum. The dairy animal needs to be in

the pastures getting a lot of sunlight and eating their naturally healthy grass

based diet to make these 3 elements, a long with a host of other elements,

available to the consumer.

So please be advised to the sources of your colostrum as you can spend a lot of

money and receive minimal benefit.

, some of us are not as healthy as the others. With my gerd I seem to not

be able to tolerate alot of things that are supposed to be good for me: whey,

inulin, butyrate, and now lactoferrin. I felt like death for one day and into

the 4th day still have fatigue and some digestive distress. Also it caused more

constipation in me. I don't think the group wants to know how I react to

everything, but just my input that it can have side effects. One more container

of supplements, about 20 now, that I bought and now cannot use. Wonder how many

of them would be good for my dogs. Doug

Doug,

How much you were taking ???

I have taken until 1 g a day. You should try only 250 mg a day with food.

Greg,

IMO, Lactoferrin is a very good weapon to fight candida. Think it can cause

die-off as any other antifungal. There is a lot of information about Lactoferrin

and its benefits on the web. I have been taking it for around 2 months. I also

take Colostrum since its ability to repair the intestinal lining. The best from

Lactoferrin is gotten when we combine it with other antifungals and immune

boosters. Let say Transfer Factor, Zinc, Omega 3, Vitamin C and E. Lactoferrin

has shown synergy activity against candida when combined with the azoles. It

also helps to recover the IGA function in the gut and activates CD4 immune

cells.

I'll weigh in on this as well....I have made slow, but good progress on my leaky

gut with Lactoferrin and colostrum along with diet and other supplements. I am

still with Greg on the whey....it's the kiss of death for me (side

effects=rashes, headache, nasal congestion, itching)...I believe I am left with

this food issue/sensitivity because of leaky gut. I have made excellent

progress with candida. Keep in mind I had another yeast which originally

required diflucan to beat back.

My dairy sensitivity dates back a number of years even before I got really sick

so for now....no WAY to whey. I have done fine with lactoferrin and Kirkman's

colostrum which is as casein free as they can get it.

I think that there are sometimes secondary issues that keep candida-like

symptoms and a feeling of unwellness in our lives.

And slightly off topic..... those of you who haven't given up coffee you need to

really look at that because your gut needs a rest from its toxic effects.

Hi Doug,

I haven't followed your story close enough to remember the details but

couldn't all your reactions to things be die off or healing

reactions? Because that's what your descriptions sound like to me.

It really means you should stay the course, you're on the right track.

Just wonderin'

Margaret,

I use Lactoferrin from Jarrow Formulas, and Colostrum from FDE.

The most effective Lactoferrin is Apo-Lactoferrin.
