Guest guest
Sorry no Greg, I've not put people into ketosis in my practice and I don't mention caloric restriction or fasting at all. Keeping insulin in the lower ranges throughout ones life I think is a life extender. all good, Duncan > > Thanks for the informative replies, Duncan. I know caloric restriction is different from carb restriction, but ketosis seems to be a normal part, and an issue of high debate, of the initial stages of the atkins diet, which is essentially extremely low carb. From what I have read, it sounds like by the time your body gets to using fat as it's main energy source due to a complete lack of carbs, you are in ketosis. I was just curious about how the state of ketosis relates to life extension. If that is the case, maybe insulin levels have some significant impact on life span? > > greg h. Guest guest
Think about whether the food contains starch. Grains contain a lot of starch, which feeds candida etc. All grains do. We've dealt with the problem the Body Ecology Diet has created with carbs in the last couple of years or so on this list ....The Body Ecology diet is neither anti-candida nor low carb; both are focuses of this group. You're looking for a reason to say we are all different in this matter? I don't recommend it but people sometimes test that theory by eating carbs. Their subsequent candida flares shortly tell them that we are way more similar than different. Dietary overt carbs from seeds potatoes etc aren't really prehistoric food anyway; they are naturally only a tiny background part of our natural vegetable intake and THEN at that level wouldn't cause much problem. Guest guest
Duncan, I respect your perspective. First, let me clarify something. I am not following the Body Ecology diet in a very prescriptive manner. I take concepts from that book, Dr. Crook's book, and synthesize them in a way that works for me. As a newbie to this group, I have read many contradictory posts. I would hesitate to say there are no " anti-candida " concepts in the BED. There are principles that correspond to Dr. Crook's " yeast connection " book. By the way, there are some who would disagree on the 'low carb' concept. Actually, some folks have posted that on this forum. I understand that staunch proponents of a " raw diet " are not inclined to encourage " grain " of any sort. But, my candida journey is progressing very well, and I attribute some of that to the diet that I am consuming. That diet includes grain (quinoa, cream of buckwheat) My insistence that " we are unique " is not a rationalization. It is a belief based on my own experiences. (as well as interacting with naturopaths, healers for the last 25 or more years). As always, thanks for your thoughtful response. Kind Regards, Carolyn > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > > > > I just recently joined the group and wanted to ask about a > > > > specific issue that surfaced for me recently. Guest guest
Duncan is right. as a matter of fact, it was prob Duncan who warned me re grains even quinoa amaranth millet and buckwheat oh 2 years ago! i had to learn the hard way. just as he said, it does feed candida because the carbs turn to sugar in the system. and yes with every flare up the candida comes back stronger. feed it, it grows. it loves carbs.
