Guest guest
What do you mean by the magnesium baths seem to make you loose too many minerals. I have just started taking epsom salt baths and I've noticed a calming effect and decrease of candida symptoms. But if I'm loosing minerals from the epsom salt baths...that would concern me. ________________________________ From: Carolyn <carolynmil@...> candidiasis Sent: Sun, September 26, 2010 12:16:14 PM Subject: Re: Candida & Adrenal Fatigue: Update and Postive Notes Hi Joan, I responded to your message, but it did not seem to get posted. Thanks for the feedback. I am now using Magnesium foot soaks and 5-HTP about 30 minutes before going to bed. I also stopped the B-vitamins at night. Last night, I slept very well. I still didn't get to bed until about 12:00MN, but stayed in bed until 8:30AM. So, I am going to try that routine for a while and see how it works. The magnesium baths seem to make me lose too many other minerals, so I am going to try the above routine instead. I am encouraged by your response. I think I figured the culprit for my distention. Guest guest
Yes, B vitamins should be taken earlier in the day. I think Mucinex is a " good " drug even though it has less than optimal ingredients....I take it regularly to keep my upper sinuses (way up on my forehead) draining as the headaches if I don't take Muscinex are incapacitating. The foot soaks are good......how interesting about minerals and the baths. At my worst I supplemented liquid minerals and World Organics liquid B's.....keep in mind that I was REALLY sick and unable to work or leave home much of the time. I make ginger tea...never was a fan of ginger, but the benefits of a mild antifungal and all the rest have been good for me. I have found that the parents of autistic children have the best info by the way. Joan candidiasis From: carolynmil@... Guest guest
Carolyn, If you are eating grits, then you are not eating the way you need to to beat candida. I would do a fairly strict candida diet for two weeks...maybe more depending how much candida I had and then add the antifungals. Grits would definitely feed the candida which you are trying to do away with. Yeast will mutate under those circumstances and go into their hyphae stage, send down roots into the intestines and leaky gut will be the result. I can't remember if you are using digestive enzymes and Betaine HCI. Joan candidiasis From: carolynmil@... I can't swallow pills very well, so am left with the children's version of the same. The last couple of days, I have noticed that I have a tendency to want to belch, but not always successful. It seems as if I have gastric distention, but it's not moving. So, I may try some Ginger to see if I have any success. Any ideas? I ate grits yesterday and today, and am beginning to suspect that maybe I am not digesting the grits very well. There are so many possibilities, so I am just struggling to see what's with my indigestion. I am up and about, but I still have moments of being uncomfortable. (Like the needing to belch, but sometimes being unable to). I am no Nizoral and Nystatin, and sometimes wonder if these drugs are creating some of the gastric distress that I experience. The Nizoral ends in 7 days, and I will be very happy. I will probably do at least another month of Nystatin since I have only been on these drugs for about 3 weeks. Take care, and thanks for the feedback. Guest guest
If one is sensitive to yeast, then live culture cider vinegar will probably be a problem. I would try splet as my form of grain...I is an old form of wheat that has not been hybridized and is more easily digestible. Quinoa needs to be thoroughly rinsed before cooking. Good enzymes, by the way. Rice is hybridized.....so AI would stay away until my body/digestion is less stressed. I'm not sure where brown rice would fit in.....I would try a less hybridized rice variety...Forbidden Rice perhaps....I something less commercial. Joan candidiasis From: carolynmil@... I just introduced grits this week, after being on a very strict anti-candida diet for about 6 weeks and on Anti-fungals for 3 weeks. I have basically consumed nothing but veggies and protein for 6 weeks, and thought I might start adding some grains. I tried quinoa, but it didn't agree with me. According to Dr. Crook, grits can be consumed, but in moderation. So, I thought it would be OK to try them to see if my body could digest them. I am not sure if that really caused the bloating, indigestion, but want to rule-out possibilities. There seem to be so many different approaches to dietary options. Some folks include fruit, some do not. Some include grains, some do not. I believe you almost have to determine what works for your body. I do try to use Dr. Crook's approach as the basis for my treatment plan (and my Doctor, who practices Holistic as well as Traditional medicine). I am using DigestMore Enzymes by RenewLife (as well as an Indigestion product that has Betaine HCL). Some folks think that Bitters and Apple Cider Vinegar are more effective than enzymes as they do not replace the body's natural function (generating enzymes). I have not introduced Apple Cider Vinegar, but I am taking Grape Bitters along with the Enzymes. Again, thanks a lot, and keep the feedback coming. It is much appreciated. It is my understanding that if you sweat a lot during these baths, you may be losing potassium as well. This was one person's experience, so I am concerned that I may create an electrolyte imbalance. I have resumed taking the baths, as they do help me relax and sleep better. However, I do lick a little sea salt after getting out of the tub. At least that replaces some of the Sodium that is lost. Guest guest
I guess I'm going to stick my neck out on this one....http://v8juice.com/Products.aspx......here's the link on the info for V 8....if one drank eight ounces they would get 13 carbs....I drink the smallest can. My candida is quite under control so I do not view a few carbs from beets as a major threat to my well-being. As carbs go, I think V 8 has too many good things going for it to paint it black at this juncture. Joan , Do you use V-8 for the Potassium? I wondered because it has beets in it and that is a definite feeder of candida. Guest guest
I am selective about carbs......at my strictest I I included 1/4 C dark berries and some pineapple juice (to heal intestines) in my smoothie, and all vegetables except potatoes, corn, and peas. I did not add yams until about eight weeks into the diet.....I did eight very strict weeks of elimination. after much trial and error dairy of all kinds proved to be a NO-No. I added V 8 after the eight weeks although I made homemade V 8 before that. No dried fruit...some rice milk and some almond milk. I added spelt bread in small amounts at about six weeks and some spelt granules in homemade taboulli. Guest guest
I was on Adreset and Adrenogen for two years. I am still careful to supplement several times per week with liquid B vitamins even though my diet is exemplary. My malabsorption problem persists.....maybe microscopic colitis. That fragile feeling is no fun....I remember telling that to the nurse and the gastro laughing at me right before my endoscopy....I found new medical practitioners. I had trouble with the anethesia and the nurse was so kind. Joan Hi Joan, I hope I didn't sound offensive in any way. I am just trying to gather info on the rationale for using V-8. If it is a good thing, then I will consider using it in the near term. I have only been aggressively treating my candida for the last 7.5 weeks (only 3 weeks on Anti-fungals), but I have made a lot of progress. I also have Adrenal issues (not sure which came first, since I was under enormous stress in my Corporate job). Additionally, had to have oral surgery in June, and was forced to take Antibiotics for a protracted period of time. I guess there are degrees to the Candida issue. Some folks indicate that they can / could not function. I have not been bed-ridden, but the Adrenal impact (and Candida) sure tired me on many days as well as impacted me emotionally. (felt fragile on occasion, which was different for me). I am keeping a journal, and noting those things that send a surge in my candida response as well as those that have a zero effect. That said, I think I have come a long ways in a short time, and am trying to continue down that path. So, believe me, I am open to healing and any feedback is very well received. Thanks for your kindness, Carolyn > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Sorry...I meant " magnesium bath " > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Joan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Carolyn, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been where you are.....two things I would mention to you. Guest guest
banana=high sugar cabbage is very good for the detox system and the liver's functioning Joan , You are definitely on to something as far as I am concerned. For example, I consumed Cream of Buckwheat with steamed cabbage for breakfast one day, and did not have any reaction. The portion of buckwheat was small. However, on Saturday, I increased the Cream of Buckwheat substantially, and did not have any vegetables at all. I did not feel good at all. That said, you are probably right. It may be more a function of carb overload than food sensitivity. Because I had the Food Safe testing done, and I was found to be sensitive to: Gliadins, Eggs - white and yolk, pineapple, bananas, and several other things. But, not to Buckwheat. Will definitely consider the quantity as I introduce the changes. Many thanks, Carolyn
Guest guest
I know... is having issues.....and it is happening in all three groups I belong to....too bad because one of my messages was spot on with help for someone at that time! As an aside (to someone) if two cups of Epsom salts is too much ...only do one. Sometimes less of a good thing is what your body is ready for. Joan Joan...this message was posted a long time ago. Not sure why it is just showing up. Carolyn > > > > > > Sorry...I meant " magnesium bath " > > > > Joan > > > > > > > Carolyn, > > > > > > I have been where you are.....two things I would mention to you. Sleep can be improved by taking a magsium beth (soak in two cups of Epsom salts an hour before you want to fall asleep). Second....dairy presented a problem for me to get really well so all dairy for me had to be eliminated. I use quality probiotics...starting with a brand with millions and then increasing to billions of acidophilous and bifidous bacteria. Later I would add a wider spectrum of probiotics...always aiming for millions to billions. > > > > > > > >
