Guest guest Posted February 18, 2008 Report Share Posted February 18, 2008 Bonnie, flaxseed oil is only recommended because of inaccurate interpretation of the omega-3 science, and subsequent relentless promotion by the seed oil manufacturers. The original studies on mice were found to not apply to humans, who do not digest these oils the way mice do. Yes, flaxseed oil is essentially an inflammatory omega-6-rich oil, not an anti-inflammatory omega-3 oil, because the nonessential omega-3, linolenic acid, does not convert well in humans to DHA and EPA, which ARE the essential omega-3's.
