Guest guest
Duncan: Are these 3 considered to be an SIBO or not? I'm not going to be treated with an Antibiotic. Pseudomonas Enterococcus Alpha Hemolytic Streptococcus Thanks, Bonnie
Guest guest
Bonnie, no, moderate levels of these bacteria in the upper intestine and moderate levels in the lower intestine is normal and not considered to be Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, or SIBO, or for that matter a problem in the bowel. These bacteria are always present. If the bacterial flourish was high, and if it was in the upper intestine, then it would be noted in the lab work as such, then maybe SIBO would be a good call. If the bacteria were present in the lower but not in the upper intestine, then no SIBO. Was this an upper intestinal sample, and how did they get it? Guest guest
I am so confused. There is no way from a simple GI Panel (poop test) to know where exactly it came from. It didn't say. I don't know what to think now. Guest guest
Bonnie, you weren't tested for SIBO; a poop test is just a fecal flora test. Guest guest
Bonnie, they have to get a sample from the upper intestinal tract as well as do the lactulose test in order to determine whether one has SIBO. Guest guest
Duncan: It was a BIT MORE than just Flora, it showed Celiac (which I'm doubtful of), Pancreas not working, 3 BAD bacteria etc. Bonnie _____ From: candidiasis [mailto:candidiasis ] On Behalf Of Duncan Crow Sent: May 13, 2009 2:00 AM candidiasis Subject: Re: Duncan - SIBO question Bonnie, you weren't tested for SIBO; a poop test is just a fecal flora test. Guest guest
Oh, are you saying that after you drink Lactulose, they have to go in through your mouth and get a sample of fecal matter from the small intestine? I thought you just had to breathe into something. Guest guest
Bonnie, the doc I saw showed moderate levels of 3 bad bacteria. Average for your age one might say, according to research, some of which is posted on my inulin page; see that graph of fecal bacteria varying with age. Celiac as I said is irritation that can be aggravated by a protein on candida. Guest guest
Pardon? So you're saying that Whey can AGGRAVATE Celiac and/or Candida? Guest guest
Bonnie, no. It means CANDIDA aggravates CELIAC symptoms.
