Guest guest
Bob, Ive been experiencing the exact same thing since starting the Immunopro and Immunocal. Albeit, in significantly lower doses than you - I can't tolerate very much of it yet. Anyway, yes, my seasonal allergies have been horrible this year. Before CFS I had moderate allergies in the spring time, but since the onset they have not been very bad. Since Ive been sick allergies tended not to bother me in the traditional sneezing, runny nose kind of way, but rather with just more overall fatigue and worsening of CFS symptoms. THis year though, I just cannot stop sneezing. The other interesting thing is I, like you, had NEVER gotten a cold/flu since having CFS, even though I was exposed by my family on a regular basis. Again, until a couple of weeks ago, I finally caught the flu from my family members, and actually ran a fever for the first time in about 6 years. Coupled with the CFS stuff, I don't think I've felt worse in my life... I don't know if its a positive sign or not, but I kind of assume that it is. Its kinda nice to know my immune system is still 'there' and 'functional'. Dan Baker --- " Bob R. " <Dolfanna49@...> wrote: > Hello People, > > I hope we are all trying to enjoy the holidays. Guest guest
Dan, I am not sure about you but I have days when I feel almost normal and other days when I feel like cr!p. Prior to the Hep and Immunocal/ImmunoPro, I always felt weak, dizzy, low BP, and generally suicidal. Being an optimist, I truly think this is the beginning of a remission. FYI, It took me a while before I increased my Whey. I was on Immunocal for about 5 months taking only 1 pack a day. That amount even bothered me. Since being on the immunopro, I have been able to increase to 30 grams after about 1.5 months. Bob > > Hello People, > > > > I hope we are all trying to enjoy the holidays. Guest guest
Bob, I'm only beginning the whey products and am planning on beginning some blood thinning supps within the next week. The way you described yourself pre-whey and heparin, is how I feel all the time - weak, sore, etc. So much so that I cant leave the house unassisted. You've encouraged me to keep at the IMmunopro though. From reading different posts I have made up my mind to stick with it no matter what, building up slowly for as long as it takes. I can tolerate ~1/4 tsp right now, but Ive only been aking it a few weeks. Also, I had stopped for a week when I had that insane flu that I mentioned before. Im very glad you're making progress, its exciting and gives me hope. Dan Baker > Dan, > > I am not sure about you but I have days when I feel > almost normal and > other days when I feel like cr!p. Guest guest
Dan, I lived with that for several years and came to the conclusion that I will do anything within reason to get out of this rut. Use your instincts, certain paths that work for some don't for others. I Can't tolerate the Abx and tried them for several months with no real benefits. The bottom line is no one is going to help you but yourself and you have to push the envelope to the limit. The Heparin Immunnopro combination was a big breakthru for me. I am now weaning off of the Heparin and hope to replace it with the Wobenzym. FYI, I couldn't do shit for years and now I help coach my son's baseball team at 9am every Saturday and make it to work 4-5 days a week. Yes I feel like crap half of ther time but I have more energy and I am slowly becoming free of many of those terrible symptoms. Guest guest
Dear Aimee, Congratulations! Wonderful. Your OS sounds like a gem--someone who is sensitive and understanding. So--now begins the preparation for surgery time. All those arm exercises will stand you in good stead for using the monkey pole to lift yourself on and off the bedpan. Lying flat in bed, moving your leg up and down (bending at the knee) will help as will moving your leg out to the side and back while lying down. Both of these are post op exercises, and I sure wish I had known about starting them before when I had my first op. They have made my rehab after my subsequent operations much easier. I just hope you don't have too much pain right now to do them a little bit. But if you have, don't worry, you will begin to be able to slowly do them after the op. Eleanor Status update Hi everyone, A few people posted and asked for an update when I finally saw an OS, so here goes! The OS I met with yesterday was very nice. It was like night and day from the last person I had seen. This OS never once mentioned my weight as an issue preventing surgery, so as a result, I will be scheduled for surgery at the beginning of June!! His main concern was my age, but he has operated on people my age, and he has no problem doing so as long as his patients realize there are no long term statistics (30-40 years out) on how younger patients handle hip replacements over time. To his comment I remarked that I would much rather be able to enjoy a pain free quality of life now, and he said that is how most of his young patients approach surgery. While he didn't say that I had the worst hip he'd every seen (which I've heard from other orthopaedics before), he said I am in an " elite " group of people who have the worst problems that he has seen. He said regardless of physical stature, anyone with the severity of problems seen in my hip would have major pain issues. So it looks like I'm moving into the group of people preparing for surgery. I'll have three different pre-op appointments to attend that need to be done within a month of surgery. I haven't set an official date for surgery yet because I wanted to talk to my boss, but it looks like I'll have a summer off from work to start the work of recovering! Thanks to those of you who have been supportive and have given me great suggestions. Aimee
Guest guest
Hi Susie, I'm a librarian in a VERY busy inner city public library branch. It's actually a double edged situation with my being off during the summer. The summer is our busiest season because the kids are out of school and we also do a huge summer reading program here in the city. So, it will be difficult to be down one person on the staff with all of this going on. But on the up side for me, the summer is the time of season that we usually experience our most stress here at the branch, so I'll get to miss out on that " fun " ... I spoke with my boss first about when she would like me gone for a while, and she said to do the surgery as soon as possible so I can feel better, so as far as I'm concerned, I'm doing what I was directed to do! Thanks for the well wishes! Aimee > Hi Aimee, > Well I'm happy for you that you found a nice dr and you can have the summer off . Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions! The doctor gave me a huge binder of information to look at before surgery, and that binder included some post op exercises that looked like things I would want to begin now to get in the habit of doing things. I feel very comfortable with the doctor I have found. He is very concerned with the welfare of his patients, and wants to help them get to a level of better quality of life. It's too bad I couldn't have found this OS sooner, but I guess later is better than never! Aimee > Dear Aimee, > > Congratulations! Wonderful. Guest guest
Hi Aimee, Does the 73 mean you were born in 1973- I was 1972 (32). That is fantastic news that you found an os willing to operate. I think it is so disgusting to make someone try and lose weight before surgery. Its such a guilt trip. I am 8 stone and overweight nurses and surgeons still encouraged me to stay at the bottom end of the BMI and lose weight-were they trying to encourage anorexia!. Its standard advice they give to young arthritis patients without thinking that it is impossible to diet or exercise with an arthritic hip and I for one clearly didn't need to, but they did'nt hqave any other advice to offer to a 32 year old till I pushed for surgery. I agree get the good years now and worry about the rest later. I for one have got to get my career sorted and find me a partner!I lost a stone with the recovery and post op exercises while eating lots! I can now go to the gym and get fit. I'm so glad that you found a surgeon to give you this opertunity too without somehow saying your weight is to blame. Do remember that post op every pound you carry is supposed to put 3 pounds worth of stress on the hip so that will be the time to get your weight to the average. Thank goodness you dont even have a long wait for your surgery, best wishes, Leigh
Guest guest
Leigh, Yep, the '73 is the year I was born. I am very glad to have found the OS that I am seeing. I am very excited to have surgery so I will feel better, and so I can start to do something for myself and my health in general by moving around and losing weight. I was also relieved to hear that I would not have to wait for a long time for surgery. I was figuring on 6 months at the least before surgery time, but the surgeon I'm seeing operates either 2 or 3 days a week, so he is able to get quite a few surgeries in per week. I checked out his work bio before going to see him, and he's very well educated and very up to date on his surgical techniques. I trust his skills as a surgeon and hope to get great results! He's giving me the opportunity I need to change my life for the better! I can't ask for more! Have a good evening! > > Hi Aimee, > > Does the 73 mean you were born in 1973- I was 1972 (32). Guest guest
I am writing to give the group a status update: Since November 15, 2007, I have been eating a low carb diet as recommended by Duncan (absolutely NO grains, corn, potatoes, or other related starchy vegetables, etc.). Since that time, I have been taking 1-1.5 tsp of NOW brand inulin powder with each meal. (I eat three meals a day.) Also, I have a daily whey protein concentrate (64 mg of straight whey protein) shake with 1-1.5tsp of inulin, 400 mg Selenium, and a NOW brand GR8 Dophilus probiotic capsule. As of November 20, 2007, I have also stopped using coconut oil on my veggies. Previously I would use about 1-2 Tbls of coconut oil on veggies throughout the day. I read in the archives that while I am trying to re-establish the correct bowel ecology balance that I should stop using the coconut oil. Anyway, I had some SERIOUS gas at first that smelled like I don't know what. However, as of today, I am still a little gassy, but not like a few weeks ago. Also, my current candidiasis symptoms have been diminishing (slight fingernail seperation and slight itchy facial cheeks). This process is a little bittersweet. I am definitely happy and grateful that I have the oppurtunity to re-establish my bowel ecology. Honestly I am also a little bummed because it is not easy (at least for me) to stick to this low carb diet, especially during the holidays. The good far outweighs the bad though. I am going to hang in there. Duncan, what are signs to watch out for that will help me know when the correct bowel ecology balance is re-established? -
