Guest guest
Adam, it was not an allergy reaction that I had to the nutritional yeast. I read somewhere that yeast actually feeds on vitamin B. I assume that since nutritional yeast is loaded with B vitamins that this is what happened. It DEFINATELY fed the yeast in me. That is all I can vouch for so I would be mighty careful if I were you and trying to get rid of a candida infection. It MAY be that nutritional yeast is OK for someone who does not have systemic yeast or a bad care of candida, but I rather doubt even that. Guest guest
NO Duncan, I did not in any way cook the nutritional yeast and the bottle said it was safe for Candida people. I am sure I do not understand WHY it fed the candida but it most certainly did. I would LIKE to know why it did, but as I said, if what I read was true that candida can feed off of vitamin B, then that might be why. Also if it can feed off of protein, I am supposing it can eat just about anything. I know there are different strains of candida too and some are hard as nails to get rid of, which seems to be my case. The crappy candida I have has had 60 years to adjust and settle in so no telling how adaptive it has become. I am going to win though in the end, because I will get embalmed! Actually, if this new program I am about to embark upon does not work, then I am going to try the intervenous peroxide which I frearfully dread. If that doesn't work I still have a plan of desperation----I will fast until I go unconscious then I won't be hungry for anything anymore LOL. I always say, where there is a will there is a way and I have to be on my toes to stay more persistent than the candida because you get tired after a long time and want to quit. Guest guest
Duncan, I know what you are saying here about not getting B deficient. I think too what I did was OVER EAT on the nutritional yeast. I was really craving it like my past icecream addiction. I did eat a ton of it LOL, probably enough to more than feed the candida as well. Guest guest
Adam, I crave coconut oil, too! I see the jar sitting on the counter and I open it and smell it, and it's so pretty and white and creamy that I want to reach for a spoon and eat it straight. How weird is that?? I think you're right about the sweetish taste. It's the closest thing to candy that I can have. Zookee > > lol, i wont be touching it then. I have this problem with my coconut > oil. I cant stop eating it and its supposed to KILL yeast..what does > that mean? I actually crave it. Probably cause it has a faint sweetish > taste which maybe the yeast interprets as sugar coming this way. > > ;-) it must get a surprise when it finds out otherwise. > > Adam. Guest guest
It's possible that if nutritional yeast was killed and boiled it could break down and release some components that are usable by candida. Anti-candida yeast and brewers yeast generally, which is the same thing live, doesn't seem to feed candida but competes with it instead. Guest guest
yeah i won't be touching it after this. I eat beef liver instead for my B vitamins. NOt risking yeast. Thanks for the warning about it. Obviously for you it did set things off. I have problems eating anything with yeast anyway. Guest guest
Duncan, why do you suppose that my candida condition went so nuts on me when I pigged out on the nutritional yeast???? I would like to think it was not the yeast, but I know it was. If I ever get it figured out or find a logical explanation, I will post the findings. Guest guest
LOL. When I read all the posts about people CRAVING something that resembles something sweet, it puts me in hysterics. I guess it is because I have been through so much of the same sheist and still going through it. Sometimes I could just lick the ink off of newspaper. Oh my. tee hee. I still think the best way to get even is to eat the nutrutional yeast until it oozes out of our ears~~~~if only I could get away with it!! Guest guest
Steph, what I'm thinking is that although you didn't cook your nutritional yeast it might have been sold cooked or otherwise deactivated, and doing that to it starts to break it down, releasing some saccharides from the beta-glucans and whatever other polysaccharides the cell walls are made of. This is similar to long chain inulin becoming sweeter, more like native inulin, when you nuke it. Guest guest
lol so im not the only one. Oh I do eat it straight. I cant stop. I take a teaspoon of it and eat it straight, then I go back for more :-D It's not quite as enjoyable when i realise im out of it and have to pay to get another lot. Adam. > > Adam, > > I crave coconut oil, too! Guest guest
Duncan, I tell you what. Recommend a nutritional yeast for me and I will try it. I am fixing to start a new program soon, but I will have a little time to experiment here before I do that. Let me know what to get and I will report back OK? Guest guest
Steph, the yeast they sell at the brewers is alive, and so is the yeast that's packaged in some probiotics. They are pretty much the same species and maybe you won't react to either of them. Regardless, what do you hope to accomplish using yeast in high doses when undenatured whey is a better protein source? Duncan > > Duncan, I tell you what. Guest guest
Duncan, for some reason I had a serious CRAVING for the nutritional yeast. That is why I would like to take it and eat it by the jar full LOL. Not only that, if FEELS like I am getting even for all the many years it has eaten off me 8:>{=} Steph
