Guest guest
Yeah I believe I have. I felt strange, hard to describe. A sense of unreality/numbness and a garlicy taste in the mouth if I recall. And yeah some anxiety too. i cannot recall taking an excessive amount as such, but obviously with the brazil nuts i was eating, my supplementary selenium may have taken me a bit over the edge. I was only taking about 200 - 300 mcg...So I guess it depends what other sources you're receiving it from (dietry too). I also eat alot of eggs and butter, which supposedly have selenium. > I have begun taking selenium and came across this on a few sites: " You > should never exceed 400 mcg of selenium in one day. Guest guest
I am taking 200mcg of selenium because I am not sure how much I am getting from food sources, so thought the lower end of the scale would be better, in case of overdosing. Dee -- selenium and side effects I have begun taking selenium and came across this on a few sites: " You should never exceed 400 mcg of selenium in one day. Too much selenium can cause hair loss, fingernail loss, nausea, depression, and anxiety. " Have anyone experienced any side effects since I know some people are taking high doses? Is 400 mcg safe or on the margin?
Guest guest
Freeman, a study that used 3200 mcg of selenium daily for a year resulted in no hair loss but some temporary fingernail deformity. On this list many people are in therapeutic range of 200-600 mcg, and tumour shrinkage and viral load reduction has occurred in other studies at 1100 mcg daily, also with no hair loss. Your comment may have cited some low-end, and rare, effects, but it's just a bell curve, and temporary effect at that Duncan > > I have begun taking selenium and came across this on a few sites: " You > should never exceed 400 mcg of selenium in one day.
