I didn't see anything in the encyclopedia about this, but I do know that too

much aspirin can cause ear ringing. Anyone else have any ideas?

, I believe it is both ears. What can I do about it? I have had my

ears candled before, would that help? I found pills for it with an

online search but didn't see anything on your site.

Mich,

I have had tinnitus for many years. It was noise induced from many years of

military service. It is a constant ringing/white noise sound in my ears. The

medication I take for Reiters exacerbates the problem. There is a mask you can

purchase that is similar to a hearing aide that emits white noise at a low level

frequency that, apparently you get used to and the tinnitus is " masked. " Never

tried it as I have low frequency hearing loss and supposed to wear hearing aides

but I just cannot adjust to wearing them. So, I just put up with the tinnitus. I

always make sure there is background music or some form of distraction and I

hardly ever notice it. however watch out for caffeine as it increases the

ringing exponentially. Hope this helps.

ringing ears

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with tinnitus. It

is a hard thing to pin down so I thought I'd ask.

It must be said that I have several other chronic diseases and take

about 7 medications per day. I am on 45 mgs of Meth a week and an

couple of mobic a day for the Rieters.

Just wondering.

Ringing in my ears started with the first NSAID prescribed by my rhemy. It

was a strong one at a high level of mgs. I don't know if that had anything

to do with it or if it would have happened anyway. My dad has the problem

and who knows what's inherited and what isn't?

My ringing is louder at times than others even though I'm no longer on the

same medications by far. I really can't relate the ringing volume to

anything yet. Since it's only been about 15 years I don't guess I'll figure

it out soon anyway.

I have seen homepathic preparations that are sposed to help eliminate

ringing ears but I haven't tried them. They are available in health and

nutrition stores.

Mich,

I have tinnitus. I find I can't take naproxen sodium (Anaprox or Aleve)

because it makes me dizzy and ears ringing. Vioxx doesn't make my tinnitus

any worse. Also, now that my allergies are better controlled, I have less

trouble with tinnitus. I think the origin of my tinnitus was going to loud

concerts frequently in my 20s and listening to the Walkman too loud.

Hope this helps.

, It was interesting to hear about your experiences with tinnitus and

vertigo. I have both. I tried taking Meclizine but it gave me a migraine.

I have kind of funny migraine triggers.

I have learned I cannot take naproxen sodium (Aleve or Anaprox) as it makes

me very dizzy. Vioxx doesn't cause this problem. Also, I have found that

getting control of my allergies and sinus disease has helped the tinnitus

and vertigo. I take Zyrtec and get allergy shots. I read something once

about how histamine that is involved in the allergic response makes tinnitus

worse and that's why they recommend tinnitus sufferers stay away from booze,

because booze increases histamine.

I had forgotten about Guaifenisen. I should get back on that for my

sinuses.

I've developed a new thing over the past 6 months. Periodically, it sounds

and feels like a bird flys past my left ear. The first few times it

happened, I was sitting in my bedroom and actually turned to the left very

startled looking to see what flew past my ear. I know now nothing's flying

past my ear, it's either tinnitus or clogged sinuses causing that I'm sure.

The hard thing about tinnitus is when you describe it to doctors, sometimes

you sound a little crazy. I haven't told any doctors about the bird flying

past my left ear yet. It seems to have subsided recently.

God Bless,

flying around my head, or up behind me, its happened on and off for

2 years, i was Dx 4 months ago with ReA. My sinuses dont usually

cause me any probs though. Just to let you know i also get startled

each time it happens i almost feel the wind of their wings beating

into my ear.

Thanks, Tony. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy. Well, at least about birds

flying past my ear anyway. Maybe there's something with Reiter's that

causes inflammation in the ear that causes this? It sure is eye opening to

see how many people with Reiter's have tinnitus. Maybe that's partly from

the medications though.

--Hello all,

I really was interested in the response I got. Not so uncommon as I

thought.

I tried accupunture to no avail. Nothing happened.

I was looking through my papers that recount my initial

hospitalization and saw in there that I had ringing ears then.

I went to ENT Dr. and he wants an audio test. That will be in a

couple of weeks. Nothing works fast when you are on Med-Cal. I did

want to add that in addition to the ringing there are the occasional

clicks. They come in clusters and then stop till the next time. It is

one of the things I forget to tell the ENT Dr.

Thanks for the information.

Selenium deficiency can cause it too. Selenium and the

glutathione it is creates is depleted by arsenic, mercury,

aluminum and iron at least. Maybe a program of undenatured whey

and selenium will do it.

Thank you so much for this information. The SCIO does show deficiency in both of these supplements. Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: Selenium deficiency can cause it too. Velvete's reply underscores the reason QX practitioners are

inadequately prepared for the real world without nutrient and

detox discussion. Can't do much without it. 'Nuff said.

Anyone have any suggestions for relieving the ringing in the ears? Or

ways to relieve the pressure? Mine have been ringing and popped for

about two weeks on and off- more on than off unfortunately.

mineral deficiency especially selenium can cause rinnging in the ears;

so can ear infection, fungus or candida.

SK:

Popping in the ear can mean a partially plugged Eustachian Tube, which sometimes

happens when we have allergies to food or inhalant allergies or a viral

infection of some kind. This happens to me when I have a cold OR when I eat ice

cream or cheese. The ringing seems to be a part of that situation.

I take 400 mcg of Selenium a day with the inulin and whey drink. 200

mcg with each drink. Should I take more? Any way(s) to relieve it?-

even symptom relief would help at this point. My head feels like it

might implode and it's really loud in there... Thanks.

Well, that would most likely rule out selenium deficiency unless

you're very toxic AND probably have more than usual arsenic in your

groundwater. So, it leads me to think it's the fungus or other

infection that's causing the tinnitus.

Many people report ear issues go away with oxone therapy (ear

insufflation). It's not cheap but it works in ALL infections you hit

it with, and 100% kill makes it worth mentioning again.

Those who can afford it might contact Dr. Saul Pressman, the guru of

ozone therapy in North America. You don't need the big unit unless

you're doing ozone steam saunas.

Have you ruled out medical reasons for the ringing in the ears? Ear

infections, high blood pressure, strokes, etc. come to mind.

Otherwise, I beleive zinc deficiency has been associated with it.

If you're hearing popping along with it, sounds like it could be an

infection or other cause of inflammation in the region.
