I'd like to turn your attention to the 30 year old SCD advice below;

today, a wealth of newer information reveals that bifodobacteria is

well known to be the beneficial power player of probiotics.

BEGIN SCD QUOTE:

The strain we must avoid in our SCD™ yoghurt is Bifidus as it has been

found to cause bacterial overgrowth in the gut. Bifidus comes in quite

a few variations e.g. Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium

bifidum, Lactobacillus Bifidus, Bifidobacterium longum etc, in general

avoid anything that has bifid in its name.

END SCD QUOTE

Following the 30-year old SCD cookbook literally is of course your

perogative; however, more recent studies on the safety of probiotics

provide a more balanced view.

This 2003 review states:

" Lactobacilli and bifidobacteria are extremely rare causes of

infection in humans, as are probiotics based on these organisms. This

lack of pathogenicity extends across all age groups and to

immunocompromised individuals. " This out of millions of treatments.

Infection also very rarely occurs from brewer's yeast that is commonly

found in anti-candida probiotics. Here's a 2005 review that found 92

documented cases, again out of literally many millions of treatments:
