Guest guest
Hi Lori, What your information on eliminating polyunsaturated food oils? I haven't heard that before. According to a website I just found, these include sunflower, safflower, corn, soybean and nut oils as well. As far as I know, these are not bad oils, and although I use butter as well, I don't avoid sunflower oil. I know that hydrogenated oils are horrible, but never heard this about the polyunsaturated oils... thanks > -----Original Message----- > nutritional principles advocated in this group: no gluten, and more > recently the notion of eliminating polyunsaturated food oils. Guest guest
I had mentioned Dr. Floyd Chilton's Inflammation index and his book Inflammation Nation, which highlights reducing linoleic acid to correct the inflammation caused by excessive intake; this is not an elimination of those oils because nuts and seeds and a little olive oil to cook with satisfies the linoleic acid requirement without producing inflammation. You can find the essential fatty acids in several foods and oils in the oils analysis chart in my coconut oil references: http://tinyurl.com/cjkx2 Duncan > > Hi Lori, > > What your information on eliminating polyunsaturated food oils? Guest guest
Beware, those with IBS may have a hard time digesting animal fats. Just because they are healthy, doesn't necessarily mean that they are good for everyone. Polyunsaturated oils are not too bad - as long as they are cold pressed and not chemically bleached or deodorised! Duncan has mentioned before that too much Omega 6 can be bad for you, personally I eat a lot of extra virgin olive oil which has very little Omega 6 in it.
