thrush...?

Hello, I'm new here, and was recommended from another group. My

daughter was born at the end of August and within a few days it

became apparent that I (we) had a terrible case of thrush. I had one

very minor case of thrush (a few days long) with my first daughter

(who is now 6). I never had yeast infections until I began taking

the pill - which lasted about 10 months, ending about a year and a

half ago. During this last pregnancy I had some yeast infection

symptoms, but no itchiness, so I didn't do much as far as treatment

goes... what I'm coming to conclude is that the candidis went

systemic while I was on the pill and is now working it's way out via

thrush while nursing.

Anyway, I try not to eat a lot of sugar or refined foods, but I

haven't had sweet tooth cravings like this is ages and my resistance

is weak -- especially now that it's the holidays! I use gentian

violet topically when the thrush seems to be returning, and some

teatree oil. My daughter had a few spots in her mouth for a bit when

things were really bad with me, but mostly just gets blossoms of

yeast on her tongue (not white, but very obvious). Otherwise, for

the first time in my life I have oily hair and just about everything

I eat gives me gas. My biggest dilemma is that so much of this can

be related to post-partum hormone changes that I'm not sure what to

do.

Any suggestions???

I regularly battle thrush and am sick to death of it!!! I had been taking

Yasmin for hormone control and my thrush became much worse and now I cannot get

rid of it. I ate completely low carb for months, lost apx. 30lbs and still had

a white tongue (no fat left on my body...nor muscle mass for that matter). It

is amazing that I was so thin and frail, yet the yeast lived!! I have eaten

four cookies during the last three days and had red beans w/rice last night so

my tongue is really bad today...it was either die of malnutrition or have a

white tongue, I chose the latter. Sorry I am not more help...hopefully someone

will read this and have an answer!!!

My first inkling that I had candida was when I got oral thrush 5 mo

ago. I've been very strict about sticking to the Candida diet with no

sweets, etc. (well now I am strict but in the beginning when I didn't

know what to eat or not to eat I had some really bad recurring bouts

of it). But it has never completely gone away in all this time. It

gets better but I will still see tiny white specks on my tongue so

know it's not completely gone. It gets better, then it comes back

again. Not as bad as in the beginning though - thank goodness. Right

now I'm just getting over about the 5th bout. I don't get tons of

the white stuff, but some with spotted tongue and very sore and

irritated areas in my mouth. Then my lips swell up and crack and get

sore in the corners. It looks so awful.

I put oil of oregano drops under my tongue. It tastes really awful

and burns if my mouth is really bad. I usually take some water right

after and swish it around and then drink more.

I also found that dipping a q-tip in tea tree oil and swabbing the

affected areas in mouth helps a lot. Another thing that tastes awful

and I end up doing a little spitting afterward LOL but it's worth it

because it really does help.

I drink the liquid Grapefruit seed oil (in water of course)regularly

and when the thrush comes back I swish that around in my mouth too.

It feels good, but I don't notice that it helps as much as the other

two things.

And I don't know if this helps or not but it sure feels good - to

swish with Aloe Vera juice.

I don't know how to get rid of it for good. I guess if I can ever get

rid of the candida overgrowth altogether then it will be gone.

I also lost 25 lbs on this diet but have finally stabilized some

going up and down within about a 5 lb range. I have to eat a lot at

each meal to keep from losing more and to feel full.

Sorry that I don't have the answer either.

Good luck to us all!

Gail
