Guest guest
Hi Lynne Most of us here have had trouble finding a Hdoc that we feel comfortable with, and that seems to know what they are talking about. A Gastrologist is pretty knowledgeable, but a Heptologist is best. A GP knows very little. They are pill pushers mostly. Try to find, or be refered to a Heptologist. <------------- They specialize in the liver. A Gastro deals with the whole gut, thus is not tuned in to HCV as much. I lucked out. My GP sent me to a Hdoc immediately. Go figure, Im in a small Kansas city. A Hdoc wont tell you its ok to have 'some' alcohol. A Hdoc will tell you like it is, and be able to give you good help, and advice. A younger, or lady Hdoc is more likely to have good bedside manner for your comfort level, and also they will probably be more up to date. Dont dispair, many of us have been there. You have time, so keep looking until you find a doc your confident with. I know cost is an issue, but your life is a bigger issue. Just take it a day at a time, and please please dont drink, no matter how bad you crave it. love don in ks My dr is a Gastroenterologist. I called 2 weeks ago, spoke 2 the assistant and inquired about the exp they had /w hep c. Of course the response was that she deals with all the time. I thought about a second opinion made an appt, canceled it. I am just felling stressed and overwhelmed w/ trying 2 find a dr, the costs, etc. I think, how many drs am I going 2 have to see to find a good one?" Maybe I should just stick w this one and go on and get going on my trx. I'm just so frustrated and discouraged.(A glass of wine would be nice right about now... :-(
