Guest guest
SusiQFirst of all, my procedure ended up being a full blown liver resection and not an embolization or even the ablation I was to go in for. They would not be the least interested in doing a resection in your friends case, if they've already decided on a liver transplant. The chemo-emboliztion is an attempt to keep the tumours small while she moves up the list for a transplant.Actually, I feel very very blessed about my operation!! Yes, because of the change of mind from just doing an ablation to a liver resection was a surprise and kept me in hospital for about 10 days longer than I had planned; but, all in all - I actually feel very good for someone who has been through major surgery only 3 weeks ago. My biggest problem while in the hospital actually had little to do with my cancer. For whatever reason, my right lung probably contracted pneumonia and started to fill up. After they put a drainage tube in to help with that, it got kinked about the second evening I think and that's when all hell broke loose. The exact same circumstances could not happen to anybody else. It was a whole lot of coincidences all along the way. Your friend will probably be released from hospital the same day that she goes in for the procedure.I'll take this opportunity also to impress upon many of you - treatment is an individual experience for each and every one of us. Medication effects everyone different and I can attest to the fact that even going through two rounds of medication affected me different than the other did. Also, I somehow drew the unlucky card and ended up being one of the ones (only 20% of us) that proceeded to liver cancer. Who knows, maybe I have a code written on my DNA or something. I also had cancer of the cervix when I was 24, beat it and went on to have a baby whose 31 now.I don't want anyone thinking that this is the path that everyone will face. Simply, that is not true. First of all, there is a number of folks here that have cleared the virus the first time on treatment. BIG difference from me right there.Gloria Hi Teri, Apparently the dog ate a huge clump of wet grass clippings. Eaten like that, they could not digest. And, yes, she cleaned up green vomit--not on the floor--the bed. Bed linens wash easier than carpet. She took them to a laundermat. Then the dog went into seizures--then off to the vet. And she, too, laughed when it was over. I think she laughs to keep from crying--wonderful sense of humor. My poor friend has had so much happen in a week or so. She is going in for chemo-embolization for liver cancer next Friday. I think it is similar to what Gloria had done. She was too ill to treat when she was diagnosed with Hep C and is on liver TP list. I emailed someone on another forum who developed cancer while waiting for a liver transplant and found out about this procedure. Her TP doctor did not even mention it to her. I can't believe how she copes with everything. She was out cleaning horse stalls last week. We started corresponding directly after she went to see Dr Berkson--now she calls daily. She continues on his protocol and says she feels good. She dropped off forums over a year ago--so I scour forums for info for her. I didn't tell her about how sick Gloria got--I was (and still am) afraid she will cancel her appointment. Can't remember if anyone on this forum has had a transplant or this procedure, but if anyone has---ALL info would be appreciated. SuziQ > > Suzi, > I know its not funny but that made me laugh. Why would she let her dog eat that much grass? They do that when they are sick to their stomach though. I have been thru the dog eating grass thing and it makes a horrible stain on the rug! > > Teri in Chicago > > > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: SuziQ <ancientkron@ ...> > > Sent: Sat, May 1, 2010 4:15:53 AM > Subject: [ ] Re: Discussions in this group - don in ks thoughts > > > WOW!!! > > The first line of my post should have read "On the topic of chit-chat_"- -what it really meant was Please don't keep leaving all the previous posts attached so they have to be read over and over. I do not see anything dramatic about the rest of my post. If I offended anyone, you are free to email me privately. I do NOT plan to leave the group as I was invited to do. Yes, I called my friend the next morning and yes I understood how important it was to HER. The only info that MIGHT be relevant to anyone is--Don't let your dog, if you have one, eat large clumps of grass blown out by your lawn mower. Her dog almost died from it. > > SuziQ >
