The way I understood the reason for vaccinating babies in the hospital is so

that the masses would be vaccinated. That is the only reason. Just one more

reason to have a home birth.

It depends on the hospital but I'm hearing that most are not giving the Hep

B at birth rather it is starting at the 1-2 month visit. Some dr.s are

waiting until 6 months. The guideline states that with the new Hep B

vaccine they can start at birth again, thankfully most(I think!) are not

going back to the old schedule yet!

Check with your hospital! See what the policy is.

Re: Hepatitis B

Are babies still being vaxed for Hep B at birth in hospitals? I thought

they

had changed it to starting this at 6 months. Does anyone know?

They are still vaxing at birth in our hospital down the street. My oldest

sons boss and his wife had their baby over the weekend. I sent my son with

the vaccine ingredient list, and Tonya's story from the hearings last Aug.

3rd, so they could read it all before they went in to induce labor. Yes,

they induced because she was a week late! I had my oldest son 3 weeks late,

and he came fine with out any induceing. I really hate all the crap they

want to inject you with and all their " standard procedures " .

Haven't heard yet if they got their baby the Hep B or the Vit K, still

waiting to hear from my son.

THey still vaccinate in the hospital but it is suppose to be thimerosal

free. The first dose is suppose to be thimerosal free. Of course, there

are still plenty of other issues.

Any information obtained here is not to be construed as medical

OR legal advice. The decision to vaccinate and how you

implement that decision is yours and yours alone.

Ani barely missed them reinstating Hep B at birth here in land. She was

born 2/15 and they started back up 3/1. I was walking around the unit right

before we left the hospital the day after she was born and some nurses were

talking about having to start it back up at birth again and one of the

nurses said she didn't think newborns should get it. We would have refused

regardless. Even though that was when we were still planning on vaxing Ani

we had already decided Hep B was definitely out and Chicken Pox would

probably be out. They wanted to vax her against Hep B at her 2 week

appointment but we said no. The doctor was fine with that. The nurse was

so irritated at us. In fact at her 4 month appointment the nurse signed

that we had in fact gotten the vaccine at the two week check. My initials

were missing and we knew full well she had *not* gotten any shots at that

appointment. They had me sign it was an error. I'll never understand why

the nurse cared that we didn't want to get the shot for Ani. She really

threw a fit that day. (I wonder maybe she had already written in the chart

that the baby had gotten the shot and was mad because then we refused it?)

I think the nurse is offended that you are not a member of the church of

immunology.

Hi

- Acute Hep B causes liver inflammation, vomiting, jaundice and—rarely—death.

Some people clear on their own, for others there is medicine.

- Chronic Hep B may eventually cause liver cirrhosis and liver cancer—a fatal disease with very poor response to current chemotherapy.

There are treatment options available.

- The infection is preventable by vaccination .

- A person may be co-infected with HBV, and/or HAV, HCV, other genotypes of Hepatitis, and HIV[AIDS].

Everyone should be tested for all of these diseases.

Here is lots of info on Hep B...click this link.
