Guest guest
Yes BethMostly a dry drunk means, that it is a person who has quit drinking because they suffer from the abuse of alcohol. However, although they are "dry", in every other aspect of their life - they might as well drink. They become egotistical, self-centred and demanding. Don't you know that the whole world revolves around a drunk?? Well, at this stage - the only thing missing about their alcoholism, is the alcohol. Also, I too have no difficulty being around anyone who drinks. It certainly does not trigger me into wanting a drink one iota. The way I look at it - is that I abused my privilege to drink, so I can't have anymore. Of course, having had liver disease is just that much more reason to not drink anyway.I had trouble with my thyroid the first time I was on tx. Only it went super hyperactive!! Apparently, I was acting weird as well. At any rate, it was my GP that caught the thyroid readings and immediately put me on medication. Around the same time, my specialist queried me about my fast breathing when I came in one time, felt my pulse and immediately put me on beta blockers. Well, boy did those things ever slow down my hyperactivity. I'd always had a high pulse rate and thus was hyper.I didn't need the thyroid pills by the end of tx; but, I still have to take the HBP pills and I guess I always will.Gloria I am 1a type mild fibrose (by a fiborsure test not biopsy, doc said it wasnt neccesary)was 1.8 mil before tx now its 2.8 mil. After 5 wks of tx was pulled due to low blood counts and platelets ( was bleeding from my mouth) Think I have always had hep c, but no proof. Dont drink or do drugs. Used to love to drink espically on a hot day after mowing, dont really think about it unless I am upset, I used achol as a stress reliver. I almost went on a big bing when they pulled me from tx - I thought all was going good other than being tired and having numb legs, I worked every day never missed any, cried all the way to work one day I hurt so bad but worked all day. I had went and did my labs and just received my new meds ( in fact they are in the fridge unopened) when I got a call from the nurse. STOP ALL TX MEDS NOW until you see the doc in 2 wks. NO reason, all she said was your labs dont look good!. She could have said your white count has droped to 1.2 and that would have satisfied me. I told told him I knew of rescue meds and he said no. I like look my vl has dropped to 37 thousand I making progress, he said no wait for the new meds. Yeah I wanted to do the big bing. TX also fried my thyroid and am still trying to get it under control one yr later. But yes I am very drug sensitive. Cant take much with out a recation, My gall bladder was removed January 09 it was non- functioning (hida scan showed the injection fraction to be 23%, they remove them at injection fraction of 40%) I am better in some aspects but not in others.I tire easy and by Saturday pretty burnt. Most of my pain is between my breast at the base of my breast bone but can go all the way around to the right side and around into my spine but mostly when I am tired, have eaten bad or have done to much. I have had 3 scopes 1st one 3 yrs ago showed ulcers and lesions in my espogihsis. the last one this past January showed every thing was healed just mildly raw from gastritis. But if my thyroid isnt functioning then does that mean my metoblism isnt working which could be why I cant process the drugs and they make my liver scream. I know they say the liver has no nerve endings but I dont believe that you cant have pain, they never have had theirs scream. What do you mean dry drunk? Just the mean aspect of a drunk but being sober? He should be a little more considerate of you.Even though I camp and solize with folks who drink and it doesnt bother me. It may not bother you but after all you have been through I think it would scare him. Thanks Gloria for sharing all your knowledge. You have been through so much your always in my prayers. --
