Guest guest
Hi SuziQ No one has DX'd me yet with Diabetes. I just know better than to pig out. It makes me happy until I swallow it. Then Im sad. LOL :-) SuziQ, you dont need sweets. Your already a sweetheart. love don in ks From: SuziQ <ancientkron@...>Subject: [ ] Re: Liver Disease and Diabetes Date: Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 5:40 PM Hi Don and ,Don, did not know you had diabetes. If so, that icing incident is beyond foolish. Thanks for all the research !!!, So far --a week--on metformin-- I have regained some feeling in my big toes. I don't crave sweets. I sleep better. The swelling in my ankles has gone way down. I am just not as tired. Lost a pound or two. Have had no negative side effects. I WILL start doing blood sugar levels as soon as I learn how to work the meter. My doctor is on vacation, but left a message to see him next week. He said to discuss uncontrolled blood sugar levels and anemia--All other labs fine. My Hep C labs are generally fine--just a few points above normal. I use Dr Berkson's protocol to control my Hep C. Wanted a self control pill for all aspects of my life, but my Dr said none are available yet.I have known for years to watch my sugar--even joined OA back in 1966 when I joined AA. Just have not watched it for a long time now. Congratulations on your self control !!!!The alpha lipoic acid in Dr Berkson's protocol helps with lowering blood sugar levels. Lots of info on Dr Berkson on the internet. I will update after I talk with my Dr and see just how out of control my blood sugar is. Going down to a neighbor who recently lost a leg to diabetes. He is going to show me how to work the meter. Joined the type 2 diabetes forum--Hep C is not the only thing that can "git ya". Still, considering I'll be 76 in August, I am in pretty good health. Dang, just one more thing to give up--my sweets. SuziQ >> Don, > > There is obviously a close connection between Hep and Diabetes or pre-diabetes. Somewhere I read that Hep C is the 2nd leading cause of diabetes behind obesity(sorry, don't know where I saw it). I know I never had any trouble with blood sugar numbers until the last few years, and I've watched my sugar intake for 25 years(since getting sober). Thank you for being organized enough to find all these studies, etc. You must not have hepatic encephalopathy, which is a good sign for you.> > >------------------------------------
