Guest guest
Hi Deb Man youve gone through some stuff. Doesnt sound like much fun either. Thank you for all the info about your own journey with HCV, and your encouraging words. About the anti-virals, as far as I know they are still in clinical trials, but the FDA is trying to fast track them for use. I dont know exactly in what protocal they will be used - in place of the I/R TX, for non-responders, or just how they will be used. I do know that they are on the way, and from the reports I have seen, they work pretty good. Im kinda hoping that my liver will last long enough so that I can use them too, instead of doing the 2D or 3D TX. I guess I will find out. I will try to find more info on this topic and post it. love don in ks From: debayers2u <billyb092@...>Subject: [ ] Dont give up! Read my story on geno type 3....Beating the odds!! Date: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 11:02 AM Thank you to those who post links and medical information. I am a 51 year old female with a 17 yr old son and 9 yr old girl I adopted at birth after my divorce. I was diagnosed 4 yrs ago.I took the interferon through Dr Gish in SF but in 2 wks lost theuse of my legs and feet. It took weeks to come bk and left nerve damage. Xmas eve 2009, kaiser called and said I was in renal failure. I was admitted and told be 6 different doctors over the next weeks that there was no hope to help me since I was allergic to the interferon. 1% are. I got my affairs in order as the cryoglobulinhad plugged up the small vessels to the kidneys loosing over half the chambers and could do it to the heart lungs and brain. I had the rhematoid arthritis and lymphoma cells. I found a clinical trial at the mayo clinic. I phoned Gish and he was now using the meds.I went on pheresis with a port, retuxan ( 3 seperate 4 week rounds)daily interfergen and ribv. After 2 weeks, the neuropathy began. The GI doctor said it was not worth being crippled. After xmas 2010, I tried again with 1/2 dose daily interfergen since I had it anyway. He SWORE it could not do anything. As long as I stayed off my feet regularly, it went away. I said as long as it went away, I would keep doing it. After 4 weeks, the hep c #s went to 0...!!!I am doing another 4 weeks. It is like walking through hell and back as some days I can get up to get a glass of water. I do it anyway. You push through it. I am on disability for 3 months. Dont believewhat they tell you. You are in charge of your own life and treatment. If I would have given up and believed them ALL, I would not be ableto see my kids fall in love and get married, have children etc..I did not look for love again not wanting to bring someone into thisbut now I have hope again.........Thanks for the links and med info. Does anyone know anything about theantivirals for after the treatment to be sure it never comes back???www.gene-eden.com ------------------------------------
