Yeah, thats exactly why I question 'when' I was infected too.

I mean, my labs indicate a recent exposure by how good they are.

At the time I was DX'd in 2008, my VL was only something like 85,000, and everything else was near normal.

I would think that if I had caught HCV way back in the 1970's with IV drug use, that I would be in really bad shape right now.

Then reading about people in Las Vegas and in Seattle being exposed to HCV via a Colonscopy, that makes me think.

I had my Colonscopy in 2005, here in Kansas.

I was DX'd with HCV in 2008....again, as I said, with low VL, and near normal labs.

I do have a pretty good immune system, but so good that the HCV has done NO damage in 35 years?

And no spike in my labs?

I dont think Im that blessed.

Heres another thing.

Right after my Colonscopy, I had a Colon operation.

In the following 2 weeks I was in a lot of pain, so I called the surgeon's office to ask what I could do to lessen the pain.

They blew me off, and shortly after I recieved a letter telling me to go find another doctor.

That I had been rude or something when asking.

Now I live on disability, and have no money.

I doubt I could find a good lawyer here in the middle of the boondocks to look into my medical records for me.

But the more I think about it, the more I sure wish I could look into this.

I may not be the only person that this Gastro has infected !!!!!!!!!!!!

My GP has all my medical records.

I wonder if he would help me look into this?

And yes, the when and how doesnt really matter because I have HCV.

But if this Gastro is infecting people - he must be stopped.

I just dont know how to look into it.

TeriI agree with you about the 1/2 that are infected and the probability they got it elsewhere.However, unless we get behind the push to get EVERYONE tested for HepC, Doctors missing it will continue forever. They are not magicians and can not possibly know who and when to test. No Doctor would have tested me for sure and I'm far from the only person that was under the radar!! Drug abuse or alcoholism was just not part of my medical history because I was never diagnosed or treated for either. So, when we (and that's most of us here) totally change our lifestyles, why would a Doctor ever think to test???Don, if as you think, that you might have picked up the Hep back in like 1970, that's 40 years ago. Then, with all the other health and living problems you've had, why would your liver be in such good shape?? It's only been about 2 years that you've been trying to watch your diet and do

supplements. Then, there are other folk on here that might not have done it perfectly; but, always have had a much healthier diet and exercise etc., yet the dragon got them harder and faster.I just think of Charly (where ever he is now). A hard working man at the same company for over 40 years. Didn't do drugs and I don't believe even drank much. How come the dragon got him sooo bad, in the same amount of time as you Don (well guess even Charly doesn't know how long ago he got bit).That's what doesn't add up to me!! Sure, all of our immune systems are different etc. and I've always believed that my weak organ was always going to be my liver. But, too many times the disparities are away too far apart to just swallow without guestion.Gloria
