Guest guest
Thank you SuziQ I was confused also about the TP/TX thing. My mistake. I thought that there was a possibility for Deb to do HCV TX. I suggested it because I thought that the TP is such an invasive and giant step, that it might be better to do the HCV TX first, and see what happened. Then too, the new liver wouldnt get infected maybe. Thank you for setting me streight. I need that sometimes too. love don in ks From: SuziQ <ancientkron@...>Subject: [ ] Re: Tp or tx- Deb Date: Monday, June 28, 2010, 2:37 PM Thanks Trudy,I think under Deb's list of labs she posted that labs can decrease with decompensated liver disease. If only there were an easy way to tell the real condition of the liver besides biopsy. My last test was a FibroScan--but there is controversy about its accuracy. Did a biopsy in 2000, but that is a long time ago. Can't get another as my labs simply don't fluctuate more than a few points above normal or have not for the last ten years. The fibroScan came back at the same level my biopsy measured 10 years ago. To AllHer choice was NOT Tp or tx---it was tp or nothing. She has been on the TP list since 2007 and been monitored by a transplant team ever since. I re-read her first post and she did say "is failing" rather than was failing at time of diagnosis. That has led to some confusion. What a difference one little word can make !!!!! IF she needs treatment--then it generally done after transplant if or when the Hep C affects the new liver. Her doctors are NOT recommending treatment at this time.I urged her to post to share for those in her situation, so I feel protective of her. SuziQ >> Was just remembering the different links that referred to "normal" labs( ALT/AST) while liver disease progressing...that these normal labs can be misleading and shoudnt be the main determination of progression of liver disease....
