Guest guest
back in 2000 I did my first combo tx..was on for 7 months and could barely function. I had to quit a couple of easy jobs since I was not reliable to show up consistently. A friend of mine with hep c had gone to a lawyer and got SSD so I talked to this lawyer and he took my case no questions asked..upon contingency. I was awarded bout year and half later. The SSD based a lot of his decision on mental depression. I was not even pushing that..i was very ill and could not function..no income and welfare made me apply to SS to keep on receiving foodstamps and medicaid. So I get awarded SSD and soon after the VA puts me on 100 percent. I came home from Vietnam in 1971 and spent 2 months in hospital with hepatitis B..they told me. So Ihad service connected with my liver since my liver function tests indicated damage. So now I get SSD plus VA (I was a medic in Vietnam). It seems unfair at times cause I get a lot of money per month and don't work. My liver has deteriated the past 10 years and I have failed 2 treatments...genotype-1A. I'm 57 and feel like the clock is ticking with no idea the rate this virus is consuming me. The only real answers I think I can get is from other heppers who are in this boat. It could be worse as I know a lot people with worse disease or conditions but I suppose I worry too much..not knowing. I guess we all do. I'm going on 40 years with this virus. I am surprised I am still here. Pat
