biopsy done in 2007 stage 3 grade 4. As my liver is failing not elgible for

treatment but if I had the choice I would not do the treatment offered now. I am

on the list for a tp but not sure if will do that either. 1 in 5 are back at

cirrhosis in 5 years. Kidney failing is about the same. And the drugs. I have

met a few people that have had a tp and they all said it was like day and night.

Imediately feeling better. Seems like I spend most my time at the doctors.

Rather be at the river with my dogs

Be well and enjoy your day

Hi Deb

I know HCV TX is a hard road, but maybe if you get the virus out of your body, your cirrhosis progression may stop.

The liver is our one organ that can rejuvinate itself.

If you transplant, you will spend at least a year healing.

[6 of one, 1/2 dozen of another - HCV TX or transplant. Both have health issues.]

Then too, with the HCV still in your body, your new liver will be right back to cirrhosis pretty quickly, and your right back to square one.

This is my understanding anyways.

Question: Are the Dr B's diet and sups protocal helping your liver heal, so that neither the HCV TX, or the transplant options are needed?

I would like your thoughts about this, if you dont mind.

Perhaps Im missing something. I am still learning.

I'm sorry, and Deb, I know you don't know me but if your liver is failing then apparently the protocol that this doctor is using isn't working. Yes it's keeping your lab work looking fairly decent but it's not helping you. I am sorry that you can't do tx because your liver is failing but why would you not want the tp? It sounds like you are enjoying life and would want to continue that, but it seems that for the past years you have been enjoying life as your liver disease progressed. This makes me sad.Teri From: Christ <ludichrist2000@...> Sent: Mon, June 28, 2010 12:19:13 PMSubject: Re: [ ] Re: what else-hep c

excuse me. I WAS told my liver was failing when first diagnosed and that

treatment was not an option by the hepatologist I first saw who gave me 6 months

to live. I went thru five Drs with the same diagnosis. Dr. Berkson says most

can live with their hep c but some may need to go on to need a tp. I would

rather believe Dr. Berkson than the doctors that gave me 6 months. Since going

on Dr. Berkson's program I am now walking my dogs and doing agility which means

running, riding my horses, doing penning. As I said before going to Dr.

Berkson walking to the mailbox was a problem. OHSU is where my team is and are

very pleased with my progress. My meld score in 2007 was 17 now 11. SO MY

LIVER IS HEALING I only posted in the hope that I might help others who cannot

treat or failed treatment or choose not to treat. This is my choice and I am

very pleased with it'

be well and enjoy something

off to the river
